Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has told off rebel Jubilee Party members led by Kanini Kega and nominated MP Sabina Chege.

Speaking at the Ngong Racecourse during the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC), Uhuru told the rebel members to leave the party instead of engaging in wrangles.

“As a party, we love democracy and peace. If by any chance you have had a change of heart, do the respectful thing and just go and let us be. Respect is a two-way street. I am not saying this with anger or hate, but Jubilee Party has its owners, and I will remain as the party leader until they decide I should hand over,” Uhuru said.

“Those dissatisfied with Jubilee Party, the door is open, leave us alone. They keep saying Jubilee is dead, why are they concerned with a corpse? These people should style up. They know we are much alive.”

The former President also told off his critics from the government side, accusing them of insulting them despite remaining silent.

“We handed over power in peace, publicly and in broad daylight. I stayed quiet even when they insulted me, stole my goats and set my farm on fire, all while thinking I was being threatened,” he said.

Uhuru revealed that at some point he contemplated quitting politics completely after retiring as President, but threats from the government side have kept him put.

“I thought I should retire from politics and go deal with other things. Others decided to threaten and force me. I am telling them today to look for another person, not Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.
