The hearse ferrying the Late Education CS George Magoha’s body has this morning left the Lee funeral home for stopovers at various venues ahead of the journey to his final resting place.

Magoha’s Nigerian in-laws honoured him with cultural dances at the Lee Funeral Home before his funeral procession left for body viewing at the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) complex.

The former minister’s family through the speaker of the late minister’s funeral arrangement committee Julius Jwan told journalists on Friday that the burial of the late University will be preceded by a string of three-day-long events.

“On February 8, 2023, a farewell caravan shall proceed from Lee Funeral Home through some of the places that defined Prof. Magoha’s adult life including the College of Health Sciences at Kenyatta Hospital, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council headquarters and the Nigerian High Commission.

“The caravan will also pass by St. George’s Primary School, the Kenya National Examination Council headquarters, State House Girl High School, the University of Nairobi Graduation Square and Starehe Boys Centre where he spent his secondary school life,” Jwan said.

On Thursday, February 9, Magoha’s family and friends will congregate at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands for the renowned scholar’s requiem mass.

“On February 10, the body will arrive at Township Primary School in Yala at 1 pm before a procession leading up to St. Mary’s High School Yala and subsequently a holy mass to follow at his home in Umiru. It should be remembered that in his last tour of duty as CS Education, Magoha was always in the midst of children and students. This explains why we are focusing on the schools where he had a major impact on learners,” Jwan added.

Magoha’s funeral mass service will then be held on February 11 at Odera Kango University in Yala, Siaya County.
