Exhibitions kicked off on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the Kibabii University ahead of the Madaraka Day celebrations set to take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

This year’s theme of the celebration is ‘focusing on the agricultural sector’ and the Ministry of Agriculture organized the exhibition from May 27, 2024 to May 30, 2024, at Kibabii University grounds to showcase various aspects of agricultural skills.

Preparations are in top gear for the national event which is set to be conducted at the Masinde Muliro stadium in Bungoma county.

Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, who had earlier toured the grounds said that everything was in place for the success of the event.

He also noted that the Matulo airstrip, Kibabii University and the County Commissioner’s office had been earmarked for renovations ahead of the event.

Whereas the county commissioner’s residence will be used to host a state luncheon after the celebrations, Masinde Muliro stadium will be used for the main event. Kibabii University holds exhibitions on agriculture.

“Our last point of call was the County Commissioner’s residence which will be the garden where the President will host the luncheon. That is ready, the contractor will hand over the site and we are confident that all other preparations for the celebrations will be completed in time,” Omollo said at the time.

Additionally, Omollo also said that he had directed the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) to give all the feeder roads in Bungoma a facelift to ease navigation during the event.

Similarly, the National Youth Service (NYS) are to complete the retouching of terraces, pathways within the stadium and infrastructure in time for the event.

Kenya Power and Water Department are also on-site to ensure the Madaraka Day event successfully takes place.
