Isiolo bodaboda riders association have vowed to refrain from engaging in demonstrations challenging the general elections. The riders called on aggrieved and unsatisfied politicians to file petitions in court.
Speaking to the press, Isiolo bodaboda riders association chairperson Moses Miriti reiterated that politicians who are not satisfied with the results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should seek legal redress.
“We congratulate all the elected leaders and to those who lost we urge them to join hands with their competitors to serve the people of Isiolo. If at all they feel the elections were not fair, they should go to court and let the Law take its course, “Miriti stated.
Miriti further expressed hope for a peaceful Isiolo, stating that the bodaboda association was ready to work with the newly elected leaders.
He reiterated that the county has been peaceful before, during and after the election despite being listed as a hotspot by the NCIC.
On their part, the bodaboda riders refuted the perception that they are a den of criminals who engage in drug trafficking, violence and rape assuring residents that they have worked with the administration to foster peace within the community.
Miriti further rubbished claims that riders in the area have been responsible for the spate of teenage pregnancies reported in the region.
