The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will open its portal on July 25 to allow for Inter-Institutional Transfer (IIT) applications.
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Mercy Wahome said that the transfer for students placed to various universities, colleges and TVET institutions for the 2022/2023 period will end on August 24.
“Inter-institutional transfers is the last step in the student placement process, during which students who have secured admission in universities, colleges, and TVET institutions through KUCCPS are allowed to make a final switch from one institution to another if they wish to,” Wahome said in a statement.
Wahome also stated that the applications will be submitted online through the KUCCPS portal students kuccps.net under the tab labelled “Transfers”.
The IIT process involves the student initiating an online transfer application, which will be submitted to the receiving institution.
For a transfer application to go through, an applicant must qualify for the programmes that he or she wishes to transfer to, in addition, to satisfying the applicable cut-off points.
Further, a transfer application must be endorsed by both the receiving and the releasing institutions, which have been enabled to do so online. Students will not be required to physically visit the institutions to apply for a transfer.
Applicants will be able to monitor the progress of their applications through the portal and, once approved, transfer letters will be posted on the portal for download by the applicants.
During the transfer, Wahome urged Vice Chancellors to adhere to the individual programme cut-off points as published by KUCCPS, which can be accessed on the institution’s portal.
She said the IIT for previous years’ applicants is discouraged but communication to that effect will be disseminated to institutions at a later date.
