Security agencies have destroyed second-generation liquor impounded at the Ole Kasasi area of Ong’ata Rongai, Kajiado County.

According to Ngong sub-county Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Patrick Mwangi, security agencies are keen to tame the comeback of second-generation liquor whose market mainly targets youthful men.

Speaking during the destruction of the liquor which was burnt at Ole Kasasi police post, Mwangi warned that rogue business dealers will not be spared in the fight against the illegal alcohol that exposes consumers to dangerous health issues due to compromised quality.

He further says drug abuse is rampant in Kiserian, Ngong and Ong’ata Rongai, stressing that security agencies will not relent in the fight against substance abuse.

“We are on high alert over the sneaking back of the second generation into the market. We have already profiled some rogue dealers involved in illegal business and we will ensure we bring them to book. We cannot afford to see people making a kill by selling cheap killer liquor. The liquor is dangerous. Once these dealers get a market, they further compromise the quality of the liquor leaving the health and lives of the desperate consumers hanging on the balance.

“I also want to warn drug peddlers and dealers, we are coming for you. We cannot afford to lose the young generation courtesy of selfish rogue business dealers. It is not business as usual. This crackdown will continue,” tough-speaking Mwangi warned.

The DCC urged members of the public to give crucial information that would lead to restoring sanity in society and fighting crime, saying the information would be treated with confidence.

He says police patrols have been intensified in areas identified to be drug abuse zones and crime spots in a bid to curb the menace.

The packaging of the Vodka Trace Portable Spirit was not standard and some of it were parked in plastic bottles.
