Kenya Power issues new guidelines on how to pay electricity bills, buy tokens

Kenya Power has stricken out third parties in their payment services including prepaid tokens purchase and post-paid bill payment.

In a statement, the company now says customers will only receive services from them starting Thursday, September 1 2022.

“No third party agent is authorised to offer these services on behalf of KPLC,” the statement reads in parts.

Customers will therefore only purchase tokens through M-Pesa pay bill 888880. For post-paid payments, they will use pay bill number 888888.

Customers seeking new connections will use M-Pesa pay bill number 888899.

They can also dial *977#.

“We wish to inform our prepaid and postpaid customers that, effective Thursday, September 1 2022 the purchase of prepaid and postpaid tokens and payment of postpaid bills will only be made through the following authorised channels. Pre-paid tokens Paybill 888880, Postpaid 888888 and new connections 888899.

“Customers can also conveniently access these services through KPLC banking halls countrywide.
They can also purchase tokens or pay their bills via USSD code *977#,” Kenya Power stated.
