List of areas scheduled for power blackout on Saturday

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of a scheduled blackout on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

The utility firm in the notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade power lines to the network.

“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said.

The utility firm noted that the Saturday power interruption will affect Nyeri County.

Parts of Nyeri County will be affected by a nine-hour blackout, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The larger areas in Nyeri County that will be affected by the blackout today include Othaya town, Iriaini and Kairuthi.

The specific areas affected include; Mwai Kibaki KNH Hosp, Thuti C/F, Silent Lodge, Mwai Kibaki Residence, Nyamari S/C, Othaya Sub-County Hosp, Approved Sch, Othaya Law Courts, Othaya Boys High Sch, Gathumbi, Waihara, Kabebero, Kihuri, Kihuri Water Treatment, Thokoini Tbc, Thuti Tbc, Thunguri, Iriani Girls Sch, Kiahagu Sec, Kiriti Tbc, Karega Tbc, Kiandemi Village & adjacent customers.
