The rescue comes days after, controversial preacher, Paul Mackenzie Nthenge was arrested on Friday and is set to appear in court on Monday, April 17, 2023.

According to police, they are set to make an application under miscellaneous application, seeking more time to detain Mackenzie to enable them complete investigations.

Families of followers of Mackenzie had travelled from Kisumu, Kajiado, Machakos and Kapsabet counties in search of their loved ones whom they alleged they had neither seen nor heard from them for years.

“I have travelled from Machakos after l saw my brother on TV l have come looking for him and I’m yet to see him but l will wait to establish his whereabouts and why he got into this,” said Kezia Kanini.

A homicide team from Nairobi alongside government pathologists have since been dispatched to Malindi in efforts to collect more evidence and exhume the bodies of two minors who are believed to have been starved to death by their parents.
