A family in Kakamega is in mourning following the death of their kin who was allegedly hit to death by his elder brother over a plate of silver cyprinid popularly known as Omena.

In the incident, the suspect identified as Albert Adamba allegedly attacked his brother as they were sharing a meal at their mother’s house.

Moments before the incident, an argument ensued between the two over the portion of the delicacy and later escalated into a physical fight.

This saw Adamba knock out his brother John Kilibwa, 56, leaving him with serious injuries.

Kilibwa was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby health facility. He succumbed to the injuries inflicted on him by his elder brother.

Residents of Elijah village in Likuyani constituency strongly condemned the incident, terming it as a sad state of affairs.

“It is a sad state of affairs, given that they fought at their mother’s house at their age. We now have a mountain out of a small matter,” Jimmy Ngwayumba, a village elder remarked.

The suspect is currently being held at Likuyani police station awaiting arraignment.
