Two people were rushed to hospital after a light aircraft crash landed at the Kisumu International Aiport on Thursday night.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) confirmed the incident in a statement shared on social media at 11:45 pm on Thursday, June 8, 2023, saying the plane was forced to make an emergency landing after its landing gear failed.
The aircraft had two occupants inside; a trainee pilot and an instructor.
The authority said the two were rushed to hospital for precautionary and medical assessment, adding that they are “safe”.
“We would like to confirm that a light aircraft has had an emergency landing at Kisumu Intl. Airport after suffering landing gear failure. Both occupants are safe & have been rushed to hospital for precautionary medical assessment,” KAA said.

The plane, used for training, is said to have hovered around the airport for hours as the pilot and operators strategised on landing it safely.
