Tahmeed issues clarification after incidents involving 2 of their buses

Tahmeed Transport Company has issued a statement after two of its buses were involved in accidents that led to serious injuries.
In a statement on Saturday, April 5, 2025, Tahmeed acknowledged that while one of the buses involved in the accidents had passengers, the other was headed to their company garage at the time of the crash.
“We wish to inform you of an accident that happened last night at approximately 3:00 am in the Gilgil area along the Mombasa-Nakuru highway involving one of our buses, KCN 075. The driver sustained injuries, and some passengers escaped with minor injuries and are receiving medical attention. A rescue bus has been dispatched,” the statement reads.
No fatalities
“We also wish to report another accident involving KCK 104 at Kibarani Overpass at 8:00 pm while headed to our yard. The bus was without passengers at the time of the incident. No fatalities have been reported, and those injured are currently receiving treatment at the Coast General Provincial Hospital.
“The safety and well-being of our passengers is our top priority. We are cooperating with authorities as they conduct their investigations. Thank you for your continued support and understanding,” the company stated.
In the Kibarani accident, an eyewitness’s statement revealed that the bus had lost brakes while going uphill and had crashed into a matatu that was closely following it, having been trapped in a traffic jam that was building up in the area.

Several people, including the matatu driver, are reported to have suffered injuries on their legs after the bus rolled back on them, causing a pile-up.
Speed bumps
Festo Mosi, who was on the matatu, narrated the accident, noting that while he managed to escape by jumping out of the window before the incident, his friend was injured from the impact.
“I was in the matatu which was involved in the accident. While seated at the back seat, I peeped outside of the window to see why there was a snarl-up; but when I saw a passenger from the Tahmeed jumping from the bus which was reversing uncontrollably, I also jumped,” the eyewitness, who identified himself as Mosi, said on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Area MCA Frankline Makanga, aka Hosanna, urged the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KenHA) to introduce speed bumps along the stretch, stating that it was becoming a black spot and many people had lost their lives before in the same spot.
“We thank God that no fatalities arose from this accident. We are urging the traffic police officers, NTSA officials, and vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles are well-serviced at all times,” Makanga said.
“This tragedy could have been avoided if the NTSA officials did their job,” he added.
