Arteta reveals satisfaction with Arsenal squad after summer transfer business

Mikel Arteta has spoken out on Arsenal’s transfer business, expressing his satisfaction with the squad at his disposal and the balance in the team.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Saturday, September 5, 2026, about the club’s concluded transfer business, Arteta opined that the London club put in a good transfer process and ended up in a better position than they were last year.

“We have shown the right ambition for the things we had to do, and the process we have put in place is top.”
“I was really happy last season, and I am happy. Today we talk about the squad depth that we have, and I think we are better equipped, especially in the position we had injuries in last year and struggled in,” he insisted.
This comes after the gaffer also explicitly laid out the Gunners’ ambition to retain their Premier League title ahead of the new campaign.
Speaking on August 19, 2026, after getting their season off to a perfect start with a comfortable 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday, August 16, 2026, further cementing their status as early favourites, the Spaniard said:
“In order to do that (retain the league), you need the best facilities, the best stadium, and the best supporters, and you need the best squad and the best players in the world,” Arteta said. “Those are the ones that win you football matches and the ones that can be decisive when it matters.”
”That is what we try to build with the current players that we have and with the players that we want to sign to make the difference for Arsenal.”
Arsenal’s transfer dealings led to the club signing defender Piero Hincapié, who spent his initial season on loan, permanently. The club also signed goalkeeper Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis, and Bruno Guimarães, who joined from Newcastle, spending a massive Ksh25.15 billion on four summer recruits.
“For me, it’s when I look into the eyes of my players and I see that fire, that desire, and the will to be better every single day. That’s the only thing that I care about,” the coach stated.
