Thursday blackout to affect parts of 9 counties
Kenya Power has announced a planned power interruption that will affect parts of nine counties on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
In a public notice shared on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the planned interruption.

In Nairobi County, the outage is expected to affect parts of Langata between 9.00 am. and 5.00 pm. The utility firm said areas to be affected include Muiri Lane, Panda Mart, Galleria Mall, Kenya Wildlife Service Headquarters, Langata Barracks, Jambo Estate, Kenya Revenue Authority Langata, Shree Cutch, Samaj, Tamarind, Daisy Park, Dorothy’s Park, West Park, Camp Kenya African Wildlife Service Club, Carnivore area, and surrounding customers. Other affected areas in Nairobi include parts of Donholm Savannah, where the interruption will run from 9.00 am. to 5.00 pm., covering places such as Total Energies Donholm, Family Bank, Co-operative Bank Donholm, Equity Bank Donholm, Tigoni, Mate Plaza, Mima Centre, New and Old Donholm, Equity Afya Hospital, Savannah, Greenfields, Sunrise, Donholm Phase Five and Eight, Harambee Sacco Estate, and Oyster Village.
In Kajiado County, residents of Rongai will experience a blackout from 9.00 am. to 5.00 pm. Kenya Power said the interruption will affect parts of Magadi Road from Total Petrol Station, Rongai town, Shell Petrol Station, Olerai School, Kware Market, Nairobi Women Hospital Rongai, Ronga Link, Church Road, Nyotu Police Station, Olemotondo, Green Castle, Masai Mall, and surrounding areas.
In Kisumu County, parts of Chulaimbo will be affected between 8.30 am. and 4.30 pm., including Chulaimbo Hospital, Masaba Hospital, and Ojola and nearby customers.
In Nyeri County, the blackout will affect Kagumo High School and Kirichu areas from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Other affected locations include Ndurutu, Kiganjo Estate, Kiganjo Sewage area, Gachika High School, Kangongo, Ndathini, Wangi Water, and Rosa.
In Kiambu County, parts of Runda will experience a power interruption from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The utility company listed Elysian Resort, Runda Farm, Runda Mhasibu, and Kasarini among the affected areas.
On the Coast, parts of Mombasa County will be without electricity from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The affected areas include Kilima Road, Maweni, Kongowea, Voice of Kenya area, Old Mugoya, Ziwa la Ngombe, Bombolulu, Bungoni, Sheikh Khalifa, Yasmin Waters, Bombolulu Workshop, Double Laundry, Bandari Quarters, Marionist Catholic Church, and Hakika Flats.
In Tana River County, areas of Vibao Viwili and Hurara will experience outages between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 pm. as maintenance work is carried out.
In Kwale County, the blackout will affect Mwachema, Tiwi Sokoni, Tiwi Mabriver, Tiwi Beach, Amani Tiwi, Hillpark, Ras Kikadini, Kombani, Matuga Bethany, Matuga Kenya School of Government area, Maganyakulo, Waa, Ngombeni, Kiteje, Coast Calcium and surrounding customers from 9.00 am. to 5.00 pm.
In Taita Taveta County, the whole of Taveta Town will be affected alongside Timbila, Darajani, Cessi, Rekeke, Kimala, Mata, Jipe, Eldoro, Kitobo, Madarasani and Murka. The interruption will also affect the whole of Kirumbi area, Kajire and Mwambiti between 9.00 am. and 5.00 pm.
