Ruto finally meets UDA diehard who pushed wheelbarrow from Baringo to Nairobi
President William Ruto has finally met United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party diehard Emmanuel Kipkirui, who trekked from Baringo to Nairobi while pushing a wheelbarrow.
Kipkirui made the long journey to attend the UDA aspirants’ meeting, hosted at State House by President William Ruto on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
His efforts paid off when he met the president at the State House, with photos of their meeting circulating on social media.

The photos taken at State House show Kipkirui and his entourage making their way to State House with the aspirant pushing the yellow wheelbarrow.
Kipkirui embarked on the journey on Friday, January 30, 2026, in the company of other party diehards from Mogotio Constituency in Baringo County.
Trekking from Baringo to Nairobi
They trekked for three days to reach the party headquarters in Nairobi in a show of loyalty and support while pushing a yellow wheelbarrow, the party’s symbol, throughout the long trek.
The customised wheelbarrow had party slogans prominently displayed.
In a statement shared through the party’s social media platforms on Monday, February 2, 2026, UDA noted that the supporters were received at Hustler’s Plaza by the party’s National Treasurer, Japheth Nyakundi.

“Pushing a yellow wheelbarrow – the party symbol – the 50 youths led by Emmanuel Kipkurui were supported by Mama Grace Sialo Tangut, who gave them milk and water during the trek that began on Friday at Noiwet village, Ngubereti location, Mogotio ward, Baringo County,” read the statement.
UDA politicians praised the youth for their dedication to the party’s agenda and their continued support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid in the 2027 General Election.
Earlier, a UDA aspirant from Cherangany melted the heart of Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi after embarking on a daring journey to meet President William Ruto, riding his bicycle.
Determined to attend the UDA aspirant’s meeting at State House, 24-year-old Nehemiah Rotich covered over 405 km on his bicycle.
Rotich, who is a student at a local institution, opted to cycle to Nairobi due to financial constraints, which left him on the verge of skipping the important meeting
His passion moved Sudi, who intervened by gifting him a new motorbike to make his movement journey easier, while also supporting him in his business and political ambitions.
Ruto meets UDA aspirants
President Ruto met aspirants who will battle it out for the party’s ticket, with those who emerge victorious making it to the ballot for the various elective posts.
More than 12000 aspirants attended the meeting with Ruto, stating that the interest in the party’s ticket is a reflection of the strong support that UDA enjoys in the country.
Former Cabinet Secretary and Chama cha Kazi (CCK) party leader Moses Kuria is among those who attended the event.
Kuria had earlier indicated interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat before switching to Gatundu South.
