The Head of Customer Care and Citizens’ Engagement, Geoffrey Mosiria, has issued a challenge to state agencies.

This is after he came across a number of street children in need of urgent help.

In a statement on Facebook on Saturday, February 14, 2026, Mosiria regretted that those responsible for securing children’s welfare nationwide are not concerned at all.

Children rescued from the streets

He said he found the children living in painful conditions and decided to step in and help.

Mosiria said the children opened up about the suffering they had gone through at home before ending up on the streets.

Ni uchungu sana!! It is heartbreaking to see the pain these young children have gone through.

” After rescuing them from the streets, many broke down in tears as they shared the suffering they endured under their parents’ and guardians’ pain that pushed them to seek refuge in the streets.

“Sadly, the streets were not kind to them either, because they are harsh and unforgiving, especially for children who are not used to that life,” Mosiria wrote.

He explained that the children had hoped to find relief on the streets, but instead faced more hardship and danger.

After listening to their stories, Mosiria said he took them to a children’s home where they could finally feel safe.

“I took them to a children’s home where they finally found peace, safety, and comfort.

“As a society, we must help these children not by judging them, but by listening to them, understanding their stories, and supporting them with compassion,” he added.

Call for action

Mosiria urged government agencies tasked with protecting children to be more active and present on the ground.

“I also urge responsible government agencies not to work from the comfort of their offices, but come to the ground and see the reality these children face every day,” he stated.

He also warned those running private children’s homes not to misuse donations meant for vulnerable children.

“And to those running private homes, please do not take advantage of donors’ support.

“These resources are meant to help vulnerable children, not to be misused. Let us all act with integrity and put the welfare of these children first,” Mosiria said.

Reacting to his message, a majority of Kenyans have unanimously agreed that a root cause of children embracing the streets needs to be established ASAP.
