Mosiria rescues 13-year-old girl on her first night on the streets
Customer Care and Citizens’ Engagement head in Nairobi County, Geoffrey Mosiria, has rescued another girl from the streets, but this time the case is special.
In a post on his Facebook account on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Mosiria said the girl is just 13 years old, and it was her first day on the streets.
Mosiria recounted that he met two young girls in Nairobi CBD late at night who appeared lost and stranded. One of them was heavily intoxicated and known to street life.
The other looked frightened, confused and completely new to the harsh environment.
First night on Nairobi streets
“I approached them calmly and asked how I could help,” Mosiria wrote. He said the younger girl initially agreed to accept help but hesitated after her friend refused.

He bought them food in an effort to win their trust. Moments later, the intoxicated girl ran away, leaving the younger one behind. Slowly, she opened up.
“She told me it was her first day on the streets. She had run away from home because she was afraid of her mother after taking some money. She is only 13 years old, innocent and vulnerable,” he shared.
Mosiria said he immediately realised the danger she faced if she spent the night outside. He gently convinced her to trust him and later took her to a children’s home for safety.
Emotional reunion with mother
The story took a hopeful turn when a friend who had watched Mosiria’s live video shared it widely.

The girl’s mother recognised the situation and went to Mosiria’s office the following day.
After listening to the mother’s side of the story, Mosiria escorted her to the children’s home, where she was reunited with her daughter. The two reportedly talked, forgave each other and agreed to return home together.
“Seeing them reconcile was deeply touching. In that moment, I felt grateful because we may have saved her from dangers that no child should ever face,” Mosiria said.
He urged parents to discipline children with love rather than fear, warning that harsh reactions can push them away.
He also encouraged children to speak up when troubled instead of running away.
The rescue has sparked emotional reactions online, with many praising the timely intervention that may have saved a young life from unimaginable risks.
