Nitapita asubuhi na mapema: Mosiria responds to calls to vie for Nairobi Women Rep

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has responded to calls for him to vie for the Nairobi Women Representative seat, explaining why he will not be pursuing the position.
Taking to his official social media accounts on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Mosiria addressed the calls in a statement highlighting his longstanding involvement in supporting women, children and other vulnerable groups.
“Asante sana kwa wale mnasema Mosiria asimame Nairobi Women Representative. Hii nikisimama asubuhi na mapema, nimepita huko tangu zamani nikihudumia na kuokoa watoto, wanawake, girl child na makundi yaliyo katika mazingira magumu,” Mosiria said.
Mosiria said his experience has given him the qualities needed to represent different groups, including women and children.
“Nina sifa za kuwakilisha wanawake wetu, girl child, watoto na pia boy child ipasavyo,” he added.
Why he cannot vie
However, he said he cannot pursue the position because of the constitutional requirements governing the office.
“Lakini kwa bahati mbaya, sifai kisheria chini ya Katiba ya Kenya kugombea nafasi ya Women Representative wa Nairobi,” Mosiria said.
He instead said he had chosen a different role in supporting the groups he has worked with.
“Nimechagua kuwa patron wa wanawake wetu, girl child, watoto na boy child walio katika mazingira magumu,” he said.
Mosiria concluded his statement with a phrase that has become closely associated with his public engagements involving women.
“MOSIRIA NI WA WAMAMA NA WAMAMA NI WA MOSIRIA,” he said.
Mosiria on Women’s Rep position
His latest remarks come days after Mosiria explained why he was comfortable with social media users referring to him as a “Woman Representative”. In an interview on September 13, he said he would be happy to represent women, citing his upbringing and his father’s three wives, whom he described as his mothers.
“If it’s a seat for representing the women, I’ll be happy because my father had three wives, who are my mothers, and he took good care of them, and I would be happy to take care of our women,” Mosiria said at the time
He also said he had embraced the “Woman Rep” tag because of his work with women and children.
“And those calling me Woman Rep, now I’m the patron of the women, taking care of women and children,” he said.
Mosiria has therefore maintained that while he is committed to supporting women and vulnerable groups, his current focus is on serving them outside the Women Representative position.
