Monday blackout to hit parts of 3 counties

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled blackout expected to affect parts of three counties on Monday, September 21, 2026, as the utility company carries out routine network maintenance.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, September 20, the electricity distributor said customers in selected areas of Nairobi, Kericho and Nyeri counties would experience temporary power outages during the maintenance exercise.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow ( 21.09.2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” the utility company stated.

In Nairobi County, the outage will affect parts of Ridgeways from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected areas include Glee Hotel, Astrol Petrol Station and adjacent customers.

In Kericho County, customers in several locations will experience a power interruption between 8.30 am and 5.00 pm. The affected areas include South Rift Hospital, Kipsigis Girls School, Kapsuser Market, Jolly Supermarket and Unwins Factory.

Other areas listed in the notice are Ainapkoi School and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, the scheduled interruption will affect parts of Kagwathi and Tetu Technical and Vocational College between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm.

The affected locations include Kiondwe, Tetu Technical and Vocational College, Muthuaini Coffee Factory Water Pump, Giagaita and parts of Githakwa. Kenya Power also listed adjacent customers in the affected areas.
