Kenya Power has announced a planned electricity interruption expected to affect parts of five counties on Monday, August 24, 2026.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, the utility company said the scheduled power interruptions are necessary to allow routine maintenance.

In Uasin Gishu County, residents and businesses around Kipkeino School are expected to experience an interruption from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected area will include Kipkeino School, St. Jacobs School, Kaptich and neighbouring customers.

In Kisumu County, the interruption will affect Gatundu and is scheduled to run for a shorter period, from 8.00 am to 9.30 am. Kenya Power said the affected areas will include Gatundu Primary, Kencel Tower, Gatundu Market and Gatundu Village Market, as well as customers in the surrounding areas.

In Migori County, the scheduled interruption will affect Ntimaru and is expected to last from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. Areas expected to be affected include Ntimaru Town, Wangirabose, Teragai, Bongibo, Kwiho, Angatta, Mangoke, Nyaroa and Nyamutiro.

The company also listed several areas in Meru County that will experience an interruption from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected area will include Mikumbune Market, Macikine Girls Secondary School, Rugejo Coffee Factory, Gaatia Market, Nyanya Market, Covenant Hospital, Ntemwene Market, Kathera Boys Secondary School and Kandigi Coffee Factory, together with customers in the surrounding areas.

The longest and most extensive interruption will affect parts of Laikipia County, with Kenya Power scheduling the outage from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm.

The affected areas include the whole of Nanyuki, as well as Mukima and several residential, commercial, institutional and farming areas around Nanyuki. These include Nanyuki Town, Thingithu Estate, Teachers Estate, Cidar Mall, Nanyuki High School, Laikipia Air Base, British Army Training Unit Kenya, Muthaiga Estate, Kanyoni Estate, Sitara Millers and Nanyuki General Hospital.

Other affected areas in Laikipia County include Fair Mount Safari Club, 1KR, Baraka Estate, Sweet Waters, Mirera, Marura, Njoguini, Rwai Estate, Kirimo, Ichuga, Makutano Estate, Kangaita, Mathagiro, Ntrukuma, Nkando, Likii Estate, Likii Farm, Milimani, Katheri, Ontulili, Mwireri, Naibor, Jua Kali, Kimuri, Edana, Segera Mission, Ngarengiro, Olpajeta, Mayan Hotel, KHE Farm and Muramati.

The interruption will also affect Mukima, Airstrip, Bantu Lodge, Ngarariga, Kamangura, Ragati, Kwa Mwea, Toll, Gathiuru, Gakawa, Mureru, Giachuma, Gatuanyaga, Kadara, Thome, Matanya, Weruini, Lamuria, Muthangira, Oltaveta, Ngobit, Withare, Kahuruko, Kona Mbaya, Sirma, Solio Villages, Sangare and SDA Kwahuku, together with customers in the surrounding areas.
