Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power blackout that will affect parts of three counties on Friday, December 19, 2025.

The outage is planned for maintenance purposes, with different regions experiencing temporary power cuts throughout the day.

In a statement on its official website, Kenya Power said, “Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as follows: (Periodic interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of power lines, connect new customers, or replace power lines during construction, etc.).”

The affected regions include:

Nairobi county

Area: Part of Muthaiga

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Affected places: Karura Ave, Muthaiga Lane, Muthaiga Mini Mkt, Ghanaian Embassy, American Embassy, Ukraine Embassy, Israel Embassy, Embassy of Austria, Embassy of DRC, Sergoit, Muthaiga Close, Pax Manor Muthaiga & adjacent customers.

Migori county

Area: Kehancha, Ntimaru, Kegonga

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Affected places: The Whole of Kehancha Town, Taranganya Schools, Senta, Ntimaru, Kobito, Masangora, Gwingonge, Getonganya, Nya-motambe, Komasicha, Nyabikongori, Kegonga, Maeta, Matare & adjacent customers.

Nyeri county

Area: Ihururu, Mathari hospital, Njoguini

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Affected places: Mwenji, Nyamakuyu, Ngoru, Njoguini, Jua Kali, Miagayuini, Kanyinya, Muhoya, Thatha, Nyeri Hill, VOK Booster, Kanjora, Kimathi Sec. Burton, Mathari Hosp, Caritus, Kamwenja Teachers College, Mathari S/Center, Nyeri High Sch & adjacent customers.
