Collo Blue or Tekilar: Petition launched to settle who is the king of dance in Kenya

A social media petition has been launched calling for Kenyan dancer and entertainer Collo Blue to face fellow dancer Official Tekilar in a dance battle, days after Collo Blue responded to criticism questioning his dancing abilities.
The petition, posted on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, called for the two dancers to face off, although there is no confirmation that an official battle has been agreed upon or scheduled.
“Petition to have @colloblue_udc battle with @official_tekilar_,” Collo Blue post read.

The person behind the petition added, “Tujue Nani ni dancer,” accompanied by an emoji of two hands shaking.
The poster also volunteered to provide the music for the proposed contest, writing, “Mimi I’ll deejay in that Dance battle.”
The post then summed up the proposed showdown as “Colloblue vs Official Tekilar” and used the hashtag #dancebattle.
Tekilar reacts to proposed showdown
The petition appeared to draw a reaction from Official Tekilar, who shared a video responding to Collo Blue’s earlier clip.
In the video, Tekilar was seen nodding as he watched Collo Blue’s video, while his accompanying statement simply read, “Ikuwe.”
The brief reaction has added to speculation around the proposed face-off, but it does not amount to confirmation that the two dancers have agreed to battle or that a date has been set.

For now, the proposed contest remains a social media petition seeking to bring the two dancers together.
Collo Blue’s earlier response to critics
The latest petition comes after Collo Blue addressed criticism from people who questioned his talent and continued involvement in dance.
In his earlier video, Collo Blue said some people had been claiming that he had no talent, could not sing or dance and was too old to continue dancing.
“Mnasema Collo Blue hana talent, hajui kuimba, ameezeka, aache kudance,” he said.
He then challenged those questioning his abilities to bring forward their best dancers for a face-to-face contest.
Collo Blue also spoke about his journey in dance, saying he started dancing in 2016 after completing Form Four.
With the new petition specifically naming Official Tekilar, the conversation has now shifted towards a potential head-to-head. Whether the proposed dance battle eventually happens, however, remains to be seen.
