King Cyrus: Gachagua’s viral USA lookalike reacts to calls for him to vie for an MP seat

Gachagua’s viral lookalike Cyrus Kinuthia, popularly known as RiggyG Junior, has responded after a TikToker suggested that his growing popularity could help him secure a parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
In a TikTok video shared on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, Cyrus responded to the suggestion by tagging the TikToker before dancing and singing along to Christina Shusho’s gospel song Pole Pole.
The Seattle-based Kenyan appeared to use the song’s message of gradual progress and perseverance as his response to the political suggestion, singing about moving upwards slowly with Jesus and never giving up.
“Naianza kuona nikipanda pole pole na yeye kidogo nasongea. Oh, pole pole napanda na yeye Yesu. Kumbe ni kweli, never give up,” he sang.
The song centres on the idea of steadily rising from humble beginnings, encouraging listeners not to remain at the bottom but to keep moving upwards despite the challenges along the way.
Its message also emphasises patience, perseverance and the belief that progress comes through continuing the journey step by step.
Cyrus’s choice of the song came after a TikToker using the handle Sergey Shoigu left a comment on one of his posts urging him to consider contesting for a parliamentary seat in 2027.
The TikToker suggested that Cyrus would have little difficulty securing the seat because of the popularity he has gained online following his emergence as Gachagua’s viral lookalike.
“Member of Parliament 2027. Huyu atapata kiti asubuhi,” Sergey Shoigu said.
Gachagua previously met his viral lookalike
Cyrus’s latest response comes after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua publicly acknowledged their resemblance following a meeting during the Maa Culture Evening engagement.
The former Deputy President described Cyrus as a vibrant social media enthusiast before asking Kenyans to give their own verdict on whether the two men actually look alike.
“On the sidelines of the Maa Culture Evening engagement, I was pleased to meet Cyrus Kinuthia, aka RiggyG Junior, from Kikuyu in Kiambu County, who lives and works in Seattle,” Gachagua wrote.
Gachagua then directly posed the question that has followed Cyrus’s rapid rise to online fame, inviting Kenyans to make their own judgement on the resemblance.
“What do you think? Do we look alike?” Gachagua asked.
He also wished Cyrus well as he continued living and working in the United States before offering him his blessings.
“I wish Cyrus all the best and God’s blessings,” Gachagua said.
How Cyrus became a viral sensation
Cyrus first attracted widespread attention among Kenyans in the United States after his striking resemblance to Gachagua became a talking point at a Mugithi country music event.
During the event, fellow attendees repeatedly stopped to marvel at his facial features and draw comparisons between him and the former Deputy President.
Some attendees openly told him that he looked like Gachagua, while others jokingly referred to him as “DP” and questioned how closely he resembled the politician.
“Huyu jamaa anafanana na Gachagua bwana!” one attendee was heard saying.
Others went further, exclaiming “Huyu ni Gachagua!” before asking Cyrus why the resemblance was so striking.
“Mbona unafanana na Gachagua?” another attendee asked.
The comparisons soon moved from the event to social media, where photos and videos of the Seattle-based Kenyan circulated widely and users began referring to him as “Gachagua Mdogo”.
