Kenya Power responds after fallen electric lines cause heavy traffic on Pipeline-Outering Road

Kenya Power has responded after downed power lines blocked part of the Pipeline-Outering Road, causing heavy traffic and rendering one lane impassable.
The incident was reported along Outering Road at Pipeline on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with motorists advised to use alternative routes where possible. The power lines were reported to have fallen along the road after an outage during the night.
A motorist raised the issue with Kenya Power, saying the fallen lines had affected movement along the busy road. The motorist said the situation had left the road difficult to use and called on the power company to take action.
“This is just insane; power went out at night till now the road is impassable because of power lines falling along the lanes rendering one lane impassable do something,” the X user said on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
The fallen lines were affecting traffic along the lanes and making it difficult for vehicles to pass. The situation was reported at a section of Outering Road near Pipeline, where heavy traffic had built up. Motorists were advised to consider other routes if possible as efforts to address the issue continued.
Kenya Power responds to the incident
Kenya Power acknowledged the report and said the matter had already been taken up by the relevant teams. The company said efforts were underway to address the issue affecting the road. It did not provide further details on how long the response would take.

“Good morning, the issue is with the relevant teams and efforts to resolve are underway.^SM,” Kenya Power said.
At the same time, motorists using the Thika Superhighway on Saturday, August 22, also experienced major delays. A truck reportedly broke down near Blue Post, while reports also emerged of armed individuals blocking sections of the busy highway.
In an X post on Saturday, August 22, 2026, the Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association (LODDCA) issued a traffic alert after a truck broke down just past the Bluepost area, disrupting the flow of vehicles along the busy corridor.
The traffic congestion was reported to have stretched from around Weteithie and Juja to areas beyond Del Monte. Motorists said movement was slow along the affected sections, with some reporting minimal progress as they remained stuck in traffic.
According to affected motorists, the truck broke down just past Blue Post on the road towards Nyeri. Efforts to remove the vehicle from the highway were believed to have contributed to the long traffic snarl.
