Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Wednesday, May 6
Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions affecting several regions on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
In a statement, the utility company said the outages are part of scheduled maintenance to improve electricity supply and system stability. The work will take place during the day across selected areas in Nairobi, Nyeri, and West Pokot counties.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (06th May 2026),” Kenya Power said.
Nairobi county
In Nairobi County, the outage will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and will affect parts of Spring Valley, including Chiara Road and part of Kirawa Road. Westlands areas to be affected include Muguga Green, Safaricom HQ3, Rivaan Centre, Pentagon Gardens, and Boha Street.

The interruption will also cover South C, including Muhoho Avenue, Mama Ngina Children’s Home, Rubis, Ole Shapara Avenue, Reliance Hospital, KEWI, Al Jazeera, Uchumi Road, Parkview Estate, Heshima Estate, Five Star Estate, Olive Road, Kawi Complex Road, Midland Court, Halai Estate, Ruby Estate, Memon Estate, and Akiba Estate.
Njiru will also be affected, including Njiru Town, Chokaa, and parts of Shujaa. Kenya Power said the maintenance will impact all listed areas within the same time period as technicians work on improving supply.
Nyeri County
In Nyeri County, the interruption will begin earlier in some areas, running from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in places such as Le Pristine Hotel, Kirimara, Kanuna Water Project, Kanuna Village, and Lower Kirichu.
Other areas, including Gatiko, Kwa Mukurino, Ngaiini, Kirimukuyu, and Ithiegeni Village, will experience outages from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
The company noted that the work is part of routine system upgrades and added that power will be restored once the maintenance is complete.
West Pokot County
In West Pokot County, the outage will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and will affect Orolwo, Lokichar, Timale, Kodich, Nakwijit, Karameri, Konyao, Kodera, Ngotut, Kasei, Losam, Natimeri, Kiwawa, Chelopoy, and Alale.
The maintenance is aimed at improving electricity reliability in the mentioned regions, as the company assured customers that normal service will resume after the scheduled work is completed.
On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, it affected parts of Kiambu, Kitui, Nyeri, Embu, Makueni and Kisumu counties.
In a statement issued on Monday, May 4, 2026, on X, the utility firm said the interruptions are part of routine maintenance aimed at improving network reliability and service delivery.
