Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by blackout on Sunday, May 10

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in several parts of the country on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
The utility company said the blackout will affect areas in Nairobi, Machakos County, Uasin Gishu County, Kisumu County, Bungoma County, and Kilifi County.
In a public notice issued on Saturday evening, May 9, 2026, Kenya Power said the interruption is part of planned maintenance work. Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been advised to prepare in advance for the outage.
“Good evening. Please be advised that there will be a scheduled power interruption tomorrow, Sunday, 10.05.2026, as outlined in the attached notice,” Kenya Power said.
Nairobi region
In Nairobi, the blackout will affect parts of Road B and Enterprise Road from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas expected to be affected include Falcon Road, Business Centre Park, Kuguru Road, Ngome Ltd, Wood Products Enterprise Road, Bachu Industries, and nearby customers.

Another section of Enterprise Road and Road A will also experience the interruption during the same hours. Areas listed include Hillocks Hotel, JK Foundation, Shell, EA Sea Food, Tuskys, Fine Industries, ROTO Tanks, Techpak, Glacier Products, Britam Assessment Centre, Wild Boots, and surrounding customers.
Parts of Machakos County
Several parts of Machakos County will also face power interruption between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. Areas along Kangundo Road from Joska to Nguluni will be affected, including Joska, Mutalia, Kware, Malaa, Kantafu, Koma, Kaseveni, Nguluni, and nearby areas.
Kenya Power also listed Athi River among areas set to experience a blackout. Places expected to be affected include Vanillas, ABM Chloride, KMC, Athi River Police Station, Add Pack Industries, Slaughter, Makadara, Apex RMD, and surrounding customers.

The whole of Tala and Kangundo towns will also be affected by the maintenance exercise. Areas listed include Tala Town, Kangundo Town, Matungulu Boys High School, Matungulu Girls High School, Kinyui Market, Kanzalu Hill, Kingoti, Wendano, and nearby customers.
Shorter interruptions between 9.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. will affect parts of Kinanie. Areas named include Graylands 1-7, Soft Care, Sidai Estate, Top Tank, Citam, Msafiri, Athi Resort, EPZA Sewerage, Kinanie Shopping Centre, and nearby customers.
North Rift Region
In Uasin Gishu County, areas around Rupa Mall and Vishva Builders will experience a blackout from Sunday 10.00 p.m. to Monday 3.00 a.m. Kenya Power said Rupa Mall, Vishva Builders, Safaricom Call Centre, MRM, and nearby customers will be affected.
Western region
In Kisumu County, areas around Abbysinia will face power interruption from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. Places listed include Ndugu Transporters, Kisumu Concrete, Kenya Re, ASK Show Ground, Ezra Gumbe Primary School, and nearby customers.
Parts of Bungoma Town in Bungoma County will also be affected from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Kenya Power listed Supa Loaf, parts of Bungoma Town, and surrounding customers among the affected areas.
Coast region
In Kilifi County, parts of Chonyi will experience a blackout between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. Areas listed include Dsitsoni, Chasimba, Jaribuni, Pinglikani, Mwarakaya, and nearby customers.
Saturday blackout
On Saturday, May 9, 2026, power interruptions hit parts of Nyandarua and Kiambu counties. In a public notice issued on Friday, May 8, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled interruption is aimed at facilitating maintenance works on its power network.
“Good evening, Please be advised that there will be a scheduled power interruption tomorrow, Saturday, 09.05.2026, from 9.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M., as outlined in the attached notice,” Kenya Power stated.
