Kenya Power lists areas in 6 counties scheduled for power outage on July 29

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of six counties on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, as the utility company carries out scheduled network maintenance.

In a notice issued on Tuesday evening, July 28, 2026, the power distributor said the planned outages are part of routine maintenance aimed at improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply. The company apologised for any inconvenience that may be caused during the exercise.

The affected counties are Kisumu, Nyeri, Embu, Kirinyaga, Kilifi and Mombasa, with outages expected to last between five and nine hours depending on the location.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (29th July 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” Kenya Power announced.

Here are the specific areas set to be affected by the planned power outage.

Kisumu County

In Kisumu County, electricity will be interrupted in the Kisumu Concrete area from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Areas expected to be affected include Ndugu Transport, Mamboleo Market, Obwolo, Skylack, Ong’adi, Kisumu Concrete and neighbouring customers.

Nyeri County

According to the utility company, the planned outage in Nyeri County will affect customers in Wariruta Market and surrounding areas from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Customers affected include Wariruta Market, Sagana Falls Village, Mutathi-ini, Ruanyaga Village, Thaithi Market, Safaricom boosters, Airtel boosters and nearby customers.

Embu County

Similarly, in Embu County, the outage will affect two areas from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The first interruption will cover Nthagaiya and Ugweri, affecting Macumo Secondary School, Kiringa Market, Kathambaiconi Primary School, Gatinda Primary School, Gichakiri, Kigaa Village, St Luke’s Primary School, Kamisa Village, Kiangucu, Ngeniari Primary School, Kathugu Primary School, Maruari and surrounding areas.

The second outage will affect Siakago, Kirie and Kathanje, including Kanothi, Ciakavuti, Kwamurindi Market, Mbingori, Gikiiro, Mathai, DOE Siakago, Kabachi, Kamunge Market, Kamugu Market, Itiira Market, Karambari Market, Kirie Market, Kathanje Market, Michegethio, Kandomba, Mukororia, Kivue Base and adjacent customers.

Kirinyaga County

Residents in Kiaumbui, Gathoge and Njukiini will also experience a planned outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The interruption will affect Kiaumbui, Gathoge, parts of Kanjo Market, Njukiini and neighbouring areas.

Kilifi County

In Kilifi County, power will be interrupted in Kibao Kiche, Mariakani and Kaloleni Road from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The outage will affect Kibao Kiche, Mariakani, Kaloleni Road, Nasuminangu and adjacent customers.

Mombasa County

In Mombasa County, customers in parts of Nyali will experience a power interruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Fidel Odinga Road, Exhibition Road, Nyoka Road, Nyali Police, Moyne Drive, Jamhuri Drive, Greenwood Drive, Park Lane, Greenwood Supermarket, Neem Lane, Light Academy, Nyali Barracks, Nyali Beach Holiday Resort, Jumeirah Apartments, Mt Kenya Road, Chiromo Hospital, Bahari Hotel, Voyager Hotel, Reef Hotel, Mombasa Beach Hotel and surrounding customers.
