Kenya Power issues blackout notice in parts of 4 counties on Wednesday, August 12

Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance that will affect parts of Nakuru, Migori, Meru and Mombasa counties on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
According to the utility company, the scheduled interruptions will take place at different times depending on the area, with some locations experiencing outages for several hours.
Here are specific areas that will be affected by the planned power outage.
Nakuru County
In Nakuru County, parts of Salga Centre will experience a planned power interruption from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. Kenya Power said the affected areas will include part of Salga Market, Sachangwan Market, NRWSC, Nguzo Water Project, Migaa Centre, GSU Molo Camp, Kibunja Market and adjacent customers.
Migori County
In Migori County, areas around Ngere and Alara will be without electricity from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Kenya Power listed Saria, Alara, Nyambija, Nyangija Ngere, Kanyawanga, Kangeso, Kwoyo Kodalo, Ringa Kodogo and adjacent customers among the areas affected by the planned maintenance.
Meru County
Several parts of Meru County will also experience planned electricity interruptions on Wednesday. In Nchiru, Kagaene and Machagene, the outage will run from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The affected areas include Part of Nchiru, Cedar Hotel, Mwithanga, Kanthiari, Uringu, Kamaroo, Mwathene Dispensary, Kimachia Sec, Kamaruki, Kagaene Shopping, Kithiri Polytechnic, Kimirii Centre, Mbeu Sub-District Hospital, Kaamu Pri, Kiliati Mixed Sec, Machangene and adjacent customers.
Other parts of Meru will also be affected in the Laare and Mutuati markets. Kenya Power said the interruption will run from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. The affected areas include Mutuati, Laare, Kambi Kairanya, Antubetwe Kiongo, Kieni Kia Muti, Karama Market, Nkoe, Athawene, Mea, Kanuni, Kamukuji, Nkamathi, Mariri, Niaikuriu, Tuuru Mission, Ithata, Kamweline and adjacent customers.
In Thamaru and Ngunguru, the planned outage will run from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas affected include Kahara Village, Karogoto Market, Kahiga Village, Thamaru Village, Ngunguru Sec Sch, Kiambachi Village, Ngurumo Dispensary, Ngunguru C/Fact, Maingirano Village, Gatiki Village, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters and adjacent customers.
Mombasa County
In Mombasa County, customers in Dolphine and Serena will experience a planned interruption from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The affected areas include Dolphine, Flamingo Pride Inn, Tembo Conference Centre, Kiluwa, Shasha, Navy, Shimo la Tewa High Sch, Shanzu Teachers College, Pride Inn Serena, Shanzu Garden, Cowrie Shell, Go Cart, Petrocity and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power also listed the same Dolphine and Serena areas for another planned interruption on Friday, August 14, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The company said the listed interruptions are part of its planned power maintenance schedule.
