Kenya Power- 8 hour planned blackout to affect parts of 5 counties on Tuesday, September 1

Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance that will affect parts of five counties on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The utility company in a public notice issued on Monday evening, August 31, 2026, said the scheduled maintenance will affect selected areas in Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Meru, Kwale and Mombasa counties, with some areas expected to remain without power for up to eight hours.
“Good evening, Please find attached the list of areas scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, 1st September 2026,” Kenya Power announced.
Here are the areas set to be affected by the planned power blackout.
Nairobi
In Nairobi, planned maintenance will affect parts of Ngong Road and Kibera from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Areas listed include Mitoni Road, Lenana School, Racecourse, Wambiri Road, Mama Wahu Road, Santack Estate, Suna Estate, Amani Estate, Dagoretti Corner, Show Ground, Ayany Kibera, part of Talanta Stadium, Polo Club, Ngando and surrounding areas.
Kenya Power also listed parts of Kayole for maintenance during the same period.
The affected areas include parts of Quarry, Komarock Phase 1, Mbuyu Court, Acacia Court, Mihango, parts of Kayole, Kayole Junction, Kayole 1 Market, Kayole Police Station, Matopeni, Kayole Posta and Tushauriane, among other areas.
Trans Nzoia
According to the utility company, in Trans Nzoia County, planned maintenance will affect Mwisho Farm from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The affected areas include Mwisho Farm, Kapkai and adjacent customers.
Meru
Similarly, parts of Meru County will also experience planned power interruptions.
Areas around Mitunguu Market and Tulivu Gardens will be affected from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The listed areas include Maraa, Kithakanaro, Kithatu, Ithitwe, Mamauru, Mitunguu Market, Mitunguu Technical, Materi Girls, Kamujwa, Gakurungu Market, Gacigongoni, Tunyai Market and surrounding areas.
Kenya Power has also scheduled maintenance around Ruarai Coffee Factory and Karinidi Market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The affected areas include Ruarai Coffee Factory, Kiirungi Primary School, Karindi Market, Nyakahuho Dispensary, Gachika Market and Gikondi Village.
Parts of Kinyaïti Market and Kinyaïti Primary will also be affected during the same hours, including Kinyaïti Secondary School, Sikai Sana, Kinyaïti Borehole, Kinyaïti Dam, Kabati and Kinyaïti PCEA.
Kwale
In Kwale County, planned maintenance will affect Diani, Beach Road, Tiwi and Kwale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The areas listed include Darling, Chepe, Naivas, ABSA, Leisure, Diani Beach Hospital, Diani Reef, Jacaranda, Tiwi Beach, Amani Tiwi, Tiwani, Kombani, Matuga, Ngombeni, Coast Calcium, Kwale, Tiribe, Kinango and Ndavaya.
Mombasa
In Mombasa County, parts of Shanzu and Kero Port will experience a planned power interruption from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Affected areas include China Bridge, Pundamillia, Shanzu Water, Shanzu Shopping Centre, Shimo la Tewa Borstal, Shimo la Tewa Staff Quarters, Shimo la Tewa Medium Security Prison, Utange Village, Kero Port, Zimlat, Maweni, Coast General Hospital Majaoni, Kwa Karisa Maitha Shopping Centre, Majaoni Primary School, Kwa Bonge and surrounding areas.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been advised to plan ahead for the scheduled interruption and make the necessary arrangements before the maintenance begins.
