Is Bolt leaving Kenyan market? Company sets record straight
Rumours about Bolt leaving Kenya have been making rounds online, leaving many people wondering whether the ride-hailing company is preparing to shut down its local operations.
However, Bolt has now come forward to clear the air and reassure its community that it is not going anywhere.
In a statement issued on Monday, June 1, 2026, the company addressed a document circulating on social media and messaging platforms. According to Bolt, the document falsely claimed that the company would stop operating in Kenya on June 8, 2026.
“It has come to our attention that a fraudulent document purporting to be an official communication from Bolt Kenya is currently circulating on social media and messaging platforms. The document falsely claims that Bolt will cease operations in the Kenyan market effective 8th June 2026,” Bolt said.

The company explained that the document is not genuine and was not issued by Bolt Kenya or any of its authorised representatives. It said the information being shared does not reflect the company’s position.
“We wish to categorically state that this document is FAKE and did not originate from Bolt Kenya or any of its authorised representatives,” Bolt said.
Bolt further reassured driver-partners and customers that its services remain available across the country. The company said it continues to operate normally and remains committed to the Kenyan market.
Company responds to rumours
“Bolt Kenya remains fully operational and committed to serving our driver-partners and customers across the country,” Bolt said.
The company also revealed that it is investigating the source of the false document. According to the statement, action will be taken against those responsible for creating and spreading misleading information about the company.
Bolt said its focus remains on providing services and creating opportunities in Kenya. The company emphasised that its operations have not been affected by the claims circulating online.
“We would like to reassure our community that Bolt continues to operate normally in Kenya and remains focused on delivering safe, reliable, and innovative services while creating economic opportunities across the country,” Bolt said.
The company urged the public to ignore the document and avoid sharing it further. It also encouraged people to rely on official company updates through its verified communication channels whenever they need accurate information about its operations.
