Rachael Otuoma, YBK and other TikTokers who gave over Ksh10K at Kaluma Boy’s event
The sleepy village of Othaya in Nyeri was jolted to life on Sunday, September 28, 2025, as hundreds of young Kenyans, most of them TikTokers and members of Generation Z, poured in to stand with Kaluma Boy.
The content creator has, in recent months, shared heartbreaking videos of his daily struggle caring for his father, who was left bedridden after a debilitating stroke. His raw and unfiltered story moved thousands online, and when he called for help, the response was overwhelming.
What began as a simple TikTok appeal quickly evolved into a massive mobilisation. Buses packed with supporters made their way to Othaya, while others travelled in private cars, filling the roads leading to the village.
By midday, the designated field could not hold the swelling numbers, forcing many to stand along the roadsides as the small village throbbed with energy and emotion.
The sight stunned many observers, reminding them of the powerful show of solidarity that was last seen during the burial of Brian Chira, where Generation Z left even seasoned politicians marvelling at their unity and numbers.

The fundraiser for Kaluma’s ailing father followed a similar script. It was entirely coordinated through TikTok, where Kaluma has been uploading daily updates about his father’s condition and the toll it has taken on their family.
Out of that digital campaign came a very real gathering, with young Kenyans choosing not only to attend but also to give generously.
What surprised many was not just the turnout but also the generosity on display. While ordinary supporters gave what they could, some of TikTok’s biggest names went out of their way to donate more than Ksh10,000, with one donation soaring to Ksh300,000.
Here are some of the personalities who gave more than Ksh10,000:
Rachael Otuoma
The widow of the late footballer Ezekiel Otuoma, Rachael, travelled to Othaya with her close friend, TikToker Bancy.
Given her huge following, she was invited to speak, where she moved the crowd by praising the kindness of TikTokers and encouraging Kaluma to remain strong.

She donated Ksh10,000, and her friend Bancy matched it with another Ksh10,000, both drawing applause.
“Thank you so much for supporting Kaluma Boy. Kaluma, I just want to tell you to remain strong, and the same to your family. I know it is not easy seeing your father in a wheelchair, but may God give you strength. On my side, I will give Ksh10,000 as Rachael Otuoma, and I also welcome you to the brand ambassador job you have been offered,” she said.
Young Blood Kamotho [YBK]
TikToker Young Blood Kamotho, formerly linked to Nihan, also attended. He said he was touched by Kaluma’s plea for support and wanted to stand with him because he could relate to the struggles young men face.
He donated Ksh30,000 and promised to sponsor a car wrap for Kaluma once he manages to buy a vehicle.
“When we saw Kaluma Boy’s story, we felt he represents the boy child like us, and we said we must show up. I am giving Ksh30,000, and when Kaluma buys a car, I will do the wrap for him for free,” he said.
Sparky Kenya
Micro-blading technician Sparky Kenya, who recently stirred debate with comments about people over 35 using matatus, also showed up.
He thanked the Gen Z crowd for their overwhelming turnout and generosity.
He donated Ksh30,000 and offered Kaluma a micro-blading job, insisting it was lucrative and could transform his life.
“Where is the money being sent? I am giving Ksh30,000. Since I can see Kaluma has been given a brand ambassador job, if he gets tired of that, he should come to me. I will house him and pay for everything as we build wealth together. I am saying that within six months, Kaluma should be parking a car right here at his home,” he said.
Embu Bodaboda Riders
Bodaboda riders from Embu rode in on their bikes to support Kaluma.
Their leader criticised the government for failing to help Kaluma when he first asked for assistance.
The group donated Ksh30,000 and acknowledged receiving Ksh5,000 support from Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji.
Murang’a Nduthi Culture
A large contingent of riders from Murang’a also came. Their representative, Kim Msee, thanked his fellow riders and pledged to continue supporting Kaluma.
The group contributed Ksh20,000.
“Respect to all riders. My name is Kim Msee, and I represent Murang’a Nduthi Culture. We contributed what each person could manage, and today we have raised Ksh20,000,” Kim said.
Bishop Ben Kiengei
Although Bishop Kiengei did not attend in person, MC Chris connected with him by phone. He revealed he had already been supporting Kaluma and promised to continue until his father recovered.
He donated a special medical bed and announced that he would send an electric wheelchair as well as food supplies.
His patron, who attended physically, was tasked with giving a monetary donation and ensuring Kaluma got a job opportunity.
“I have known about Kaluma and his father’s situation, and I said we will hold him up until his father recovers completely. I have sent food and a special bed that will help him, and an electric wheelchair is also on the way to support him,” Kiengei said.
Junior Wa Hiistyles
Popular TikToker Junior, who works for outspoken businesswoman Shiquo wa Hii Styles, also showed his support.
He donated Ksh30,000, a contribution that drew cheers.
Mofarm
The biggest donation of the day came from Mofarm, who gave a staggering Ksh300,000.

He also announced that he had appointed Kaluma as a brand ambassador for his company, news that left the crowd celebrating loudly.
Kenyan Prince
TikToker Raymond Omosa, famously known as Kenyan Prince, graced the event in his brown-wrapped Mercedes.
Known for standing by TikTokers in hard times, he was also among the first celebrities to arrive at Brian Chira’s burial.
This time, he donated Ksh50,000, admitting he had not even prepared but felt compelled to give what he had.
“I have been seeing Kaluma Boy online. I was asleep when I saw his story and remembered his event was today. Even though I had not planned, I came and gave Ksh50,000,” he said.
Obidan Dela
TikToker Obidan Dela was also present. Although the amount of cash he contributed was not disclosed, he gifted Kaluma’s family furniture and shopping worth about Ksh100,000, including a gas cylinder, bales of flour, and sofa seats.
He has also been vocal online, urging people not to abandon Kaluma during this tough season.
