Google has released its 2025 Year in Search for Kenya, highlighting the people, news, and questions that captured the nation’s curiosity this year.

The data offers insight into the topics and personalities Kenyans were most eager to learn about.

According to the leading news searches released on Thursday, December 4, 2025, the search was for Raila Odinga, reflecting continued national interest in the veteran politician who died on October 15, 2025, while receiving treatment in India.

Other trending topics included the African Nations Championship (CHAN), Social Health Authority (SHA), Diogo Jota, and health-related searches such as Afya Yangu.

Among Kenyans, Faith Kipyegon, the celebrated Olympic athlete, topped the list alongside members of the Odinga family, including Winnie Odinga, Oburu Odinga, and Ruth Odinga. Other figures of interest included Edward Kwach and the viral personality Loss.

International personalities also made the list, with searches for Charlie Kirk and Pope Francis ranking highly, as did Wafula Chebukati, the former chairman of Kenya’s electoral body, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Similarly, Kenyans were keen to explore language, seeking the meanings of terms such as ‘Enigma’, ‘Jowi’, ‘Conclave’, ‘demure’, and ‘kubant’.

Reflecting curiosity about current affairs and global events, the top questions included:

  • “Who is Charlie Kirk?”
  • “Who is the new Pope?”
  • “Where is Raila Odinga?”
  • “What is happening in Sudan?”
  • “What is Rhema Feast?”

Rhema Feast

Rhema Feast 2025, organised by Ruach Ministries founder Reverend Pastor Julian Kyula, which ran from September 1, 2025, to September 5, 2025, attracted thousands of believers from across Kenya and beyond.

Pastor T. Mwangi of Life Church International, Limuru, was among the other headliners, adding further inspiration to the five-day event alongside prominent preachers, including Lady Bishop Funke Felix Adejumo of Nigeria, South Africa-based Felix Okoh, Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna, Bishop J.B. Masinde, and Apostle Joshua Selman.

During the last day of the event, thousands of worshippers erupted in applause as Pastor James Maina Ng’ang’a, head of Neno Evangelism, delivered a stirring testimony at the grand finale of the gospel concert Rhema Feast at Uhuru Park.
