Dem Wa Facebook hits back at Sparky Kenya for shaming adults using public transport

Comedienne Dem Wa Facebook has fired back at TikTok influencer Sparky Kenya after he ridiculed adults above the age of 35 who still rely on public transport instead of owning cars.

Sparky Kenya, a microblading specialist known for his flashy personality, had sparked uproar with a video in which he suggested that people over 35 should not be seen queuing for matatus, implying that by that age, one should already have transitioned to private car ownership.

Dem Wa Facebook, however, was not impressed.

In a rebuttal video posted on her TikTok on Thursday, July 24, 2025, she recreated a skit of herself standing in a matatu queue, ID in hand, and sarcastically recalling Sparky’s remarks.

She then affirmed that although she is 35, she would still comfortably board public transport, unapologetically declaring that not everyone moves at the same pace in life.

“Woooi, I have already passed that age. Nonsense, you will not pressure us on this social media,” she said in the skit.

She shared her skit using Guardian Angel’s song ‘Pressure’, which highlights how far social media pressure can push people and the troubling decisions it often forces them to make.

She also shared a message with her fans, urging them to be cautious about succumbing to the pressure of feeling left out in life due to individuals who might be faking their success.

“No one should burden us with pressure and stress about life because of what they post on social media,” she wrote.

At the end of her skit, the comedienne, who found her limelight after years of a stagnant career in soccer, insisted that people should trust God’s timing in their life journeys.

She noted that God always makes things happen for His people at the right time and stressed that individuals should embrace their life journeys as they are.

“Isaiah 60:22 — When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen,” she said.

Sparky’s message

In his video, which has now become the talk of the town, Sparky said that he wonders whether people who are over 35 years old feel any shame when they still board matatus.

He insisted that he could not understand why such individuals have not yet attained success, adding that public transport should be left for younger people who are still trying to find their way in life.

“So you, at 35 years old, are still queuing at a Super Metro matatu stage — do you not feel ashamed? At 35 years old, still standing in that line? Even when it rains, you fight for matatus because you do not own a car. Meanwhile, your age mates — the same ones you leave work with — are driving and relaxing in their cars on the way home.”
