What celebrities won & lost with big bets on Arsenal vs Man United match

When perennial English Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United locked horns in a mouth-watering clash on Sunday, January 25, 2026, a lot was at stake both on the pitch and off the pitch.
The clash sparked a betting craze with Kenyan celebrities placing big bets, hopping to cash in on a win by their favourite team.
When the dust finally settled, Manchester United carried the day with a 3-2 win over their fierce rivals.
The scoreline saw some win big on their bets while others not only had the sorrow of Arsenal losing to deal with, but also had to part with cash and honour their bets.
This is how celebrities placed bets on the game, what they won and what they lost.
Butita and girlfriend Celeste
Stand-up comedian and filmmaker Eddie Butita and his girlfriend Celeste Terer placed a bet on the game, with Butita revealing their agreement that if Manchester United lost, he would be the one cooking for a whole week.
“Happy are those who suffer, for they shall be rewarded. @celesteter amesema Man U ikipigwa napika one week niwekeni kwa maombi,” Butita stated on social media on Sunday, January 25, 2026, ahead of the clash.

The win saved Butita from what would have been a week in the kitchen preparing meals while nursing the heartbreak of his favourite team losing.
Mosiria & Peter Salasya
Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria who is a staunch Arsenal fan had his hopes high and predicted that the Gunners would crush Man United 2-0.
He placed a bet of Ksh500K with Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya.
“Arsenal leo itapiga mtu na nimewekelea bet na mweshimiwa Peter Salasya, Ksh 500k, mkishinda nakutumia yangu Ksh 500k na sisi tukishinda unitumie yangu,” he revealed.

The final whistle left Mosiria Ksh500K poorer with Salasya cashing in on the Red Devils’ win.
Alinur walks back on his big promise
Social media personality Alinur Mohamed promised to match MP Peter Salasya with an Arsenal fan, pay for their wedding and honeymoon with a full year of financial support by way of upkeep.

“If Man United beats Arsenal today, I’ll personally match an Arsenal lady with Hon. PK Salasya and pay for the wedding, honeymoon, and one full year of upkeep. Screenshot this. Hon Peter Kalerwa Salasya,” Alinur stated.
Alinur failed to honour his bet, claiming that the lawmaker is a man of able means who does not need his support to get a wife and marry.

Obinna’s big bet
Media personality Oga Obinna took to his social media pages ahead of the clash, sharing that he is ready to stake big, betting on Arsenal to leave him smiling all the way to the bank.
At statek was Ksh1M that would have multiplied to Ksh1.6M if Arsenal prevailed in the clash.
Hopes of Arsenal bagging the three points were dashed when Matheus Cunha found the back of the net for the Red Devils, netting their third goal with Manchester United hanging on to the narrow lead to sink Arsenal.
