‘Nilikuambia utanipigia magoti’ – Majembe taunts Mbavu the Destroyer after victory
Boxer Majembe has taunted his opponent, Mbavu the Destroyer, following his hard-fought victory in the headline bout of the Vurugu Boxing Event held at Kasarani Indoor Arena.
In an Instagram video on Monday, April 6, 2026, recorded while holding the Vurugu Championship Belt, Majembe addressed Mbavu directly with a mix of celebration, sportsmanship, and a sharp reminder of his pre-fight prediction.
“Mbavu the Bride, nilikuambia utanipigia magoti lakini ulifanya venye ilifaa. Lakini bado nakushukuru joo kwa kutokea juu kusimama kwa ring na mimi. Ilikuwa ngumu. Alirepresent watu wa Mbotela. Endelea ivyo ivyo alfu wachakuchocha wasee,” Majembe said.
Majembe finished with a message, turning the victory into a lesson for his opponent and others with similar attitudes. “Endelea ivyo ivyo alfu wachakuchocha wasee. Na iwe funzo kwa Mbavu na watu wenye tabia kama zake,” he declared.

The victory came after a dramatic clash that saw Majembe emerge victorious by Technical Knockout (TKO) in the third round of a scheduled 10-round bout. A heavy body shot left Mbavu unable to continue, prompting the referee to stop the fight.
Mbavu was attended to in the ring and reportedly left on a stretcher. Although the bout was halted early, judges had already scored the completed rounds unanimously 30-27 in favour of Majembe, confirming his decisive win.
Massive prize package
Majembe’s triumph earned him one of the largest prize packages in recent Kenyan boxing history. He walked away with the official Vurugu Championship Belt, Ksh 1 million in cash, a Toyota Noah valued at approximately Ksh 2.6 million, a Taro GP1 sport bike worth around KSh 400,000, and a one-year gym membership with supplements.
The high-profile fight also drew recognition from the highest office, with President William Ruto personally congratulating Majembe.
He praised the event for reviving interest in boxing and had earlier pledged Ksh 1 million to each fighter just for participating, highlighting the growing prominence of professional boxing in Kenya.
