Stoopid Boy’s official candle-lighting to be held at Kenya National Theatre on Thursday

The official candle-lighting ceremony and vigil in honour of the late Gotta City artiste Stoopid Boy will be held at the Kenya National Theatre (KNT) on Thursday, September 10, 2026, artistes Master VK and King Pheezle have announced.
The announcement was made on Saturday, September 5, 2026, as fellow artistes and members of the entertainment industry continued to rally support for the late musician, with the candle-lighting ceremony expected to provide an opportunity for his friends, colleagues and fans to come together and honour his life and music.
Obidan Dela, who was speaking alongside Master VK and King Pheezle, highlighted the contribution made by the two artistes and Stoopid Boy’s manager, Castro from Kipawa, to the late singer’s career.
“I am with singer Master VK, King Pheezle, who was Stoopid’s producer, alongside Castro from Kipawa. And these people really helped Stoopid,” Obidan said.
He noted that the three had played an important role in supporting Stoopid Boy’s music journey, helping him push his work and giving him opportunities to showcase his talent.
“They supported him so much that his songs were trending and they gave him interviews and freestyles,” Obidan added.
Obidan then called on Master VK and King Pheezle to provide an update on the arrangements surrounding Stoopid Boy’s burial as well as the planned candle-lighting ceremony.
“So let them give us an update on when the burial is and when the official candle lighting will be done,” he said.
King Pheezle, who identified himself as the person in charge of organising the candle-lighting ceremony, confirmed that the event had already been scheduled for Thursday at the Kenya National Theatre.
“So King Pheezle, I am the one in charge of candle lighting and we have planned to hold it on Thursday at Kenya National Theatre, KNT, this Thursday,” he said.
The announcement places the Kenya National Theatre at the centre of the planned tribute, with Stoopid Boy’s fellow artistes expected to gather there to remember the musician and celebrate the contribution he made to Kenya’s entertainment scene.
Master VK also used the occasion to appeal to artistes from across the industry to come together and support Stoopid Boy during his final send-off.
“What I can say is that I want to urge all artistes to come together. All who sing,” Master VK said.
He reminded fellow musicians of the impact Stoopid Boy had made through his music, particularly through the hit song that helped establish him as a recognisable name in the entertainment industry.
“You know Stoopid gave us a very good song that became a banger. It was a big song that raked millions of views,” Master VK said.
The artiste called on musicians to reciprocate the support Stoopid Boy had received from his colleagues during his career by standing with him in death and ensuring that he receives a befitting send-off.
“So I am requesting we stand with him in demise, support him and give him a send-off that befits an artiste of his calibre,” Master VK said.
He further emphasised that Stoopid Boy had dedicated himself fully to music and deserved to be honoured accordingly.
“He was a full-time artiste. Let us stand with this boy,” Master VK said.
Untimely demise
He rose to prominence through his memorable contribution to the hit song G Bag Na Jug and became one of the recognisable faces of Kenya’s Arbantone movement.
His death has since prompted an outpouring of tributes from fellow artistes, content creators and fans who have continued to remember him for his music and his deep connection to Gotta City, where he lived and built much of his identity as an artiste.
