‘Nairobi needs a noisemaker not a politician’ – Cassypool reaffirms 2027 gubernatorial bid

Vocal influencer Cassypool Capon has doubled down on his 2027 Nairobi gubernatorial ambition, insisting that the city does not need traditional politicians but rather what he describes as a noisemaker who will push for accountability and service delivery.
Declaring confidence in his bid, Cassypool, speaking during an interview on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, said he sees himself as the only viable candidate outside the political class, arguing that his background as an influencer sets him apart from his competitors.
“Am the next governor of Nairobi. I am the only candidate who is not a politician; all my opponents are politicians, and I am an influencer,” Cassypool said.
Noisemaker vs Politician
He further explained that his idea of a noisemaker is a leader who constantly pressures systems to deliver for citizens, especially in key sectors such as healthcare, water, and infrastructure.
“I think Nairobi needs a noisemaker and not a politician because a noisemaker atapiga kelele madawa zikuwe kwa hospitali, atapiga kelele drainage ifanye kazi, atapiga kelele watu wapate maji safi,” he added.
“Nairobi inahitaji mpiga kelele; haiitaji mwanasiasa.“

Cassypool maintained that entrenched political leadership has failed to transform the capital, adding that his leadership would bring a different approach.
“Politicians will never change Nairobi, but Cassypool would change Nairobi,” Cassypool said.
He added that he strongly believes he is fit for the seat, insisting that Nairobi County is better suited for a results-driven leader rather than a career politician.
“I believe I am fit to vie for that seat. I believe I have all it takes to be the governor of Nairobi. I believe Nairobi city county is not ready for a politician; it is ready for someone who can work for the great people of Nairobi,” he stated.
The entertainer also explained why he chose to contest in Nairobi, describing it as the only county he considers suitable for his political ambitions.
“The reason I chose to vie in Nairobi is because it is the only county where I can be the governor; the others are villages to me,” he pointed out.
Gubernatorial bid
Cassypool’s remarks come as he positions himself for a bigger political role, having already announced his intention to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.
The vocal entertainer, on December 1, 2025, said that he aspires to be Nairobi’s next governor, adding that he does not intend to campaign by attacking the current leadership.
“Yeah, I’m vying for the governor’s seat. I want to be the governor of Nairobi. I don’t want to talk about Sakaja; he is doing his work. I don’t want to be the type of politician who talks ill of other politicians. Sakaja is working; he is doing his best. Tukutane sisi sote 2027, Sakaja, Babu Owino. So I will not badmouth Sakaja, he is working, and I’ve worked with him on several projects,” Cassypool stated.
“Mimi nasimama kuwa Governor wa Nairobi. Bahati ni mtu unahesabu kusimama Governor? Nakuambia watu nitatandika ni Sakaja na Babu Owino.”

Aspirants
Cassypool’s ambitions add to a growing and increasingly crowded race for Nairobi’s top county seat. Several high-profile politicians have already declared their intent to contest or are widely viewed as likely contenders.
Among those who have publicly declared are former Public Service CS Moses Kuria, who said he would vie for governor to restore order in Nairobi. Babu Owino, currently MP for Embakasi East, has also declared his bid, stating he will contest even without backing from his party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
Tony Gachoka, a journalist-turned-political analyst who joined KANU in mid-2025, has also announced his plan to run for governor. Nairobi patron for the Democracy for Citizens’ Party (DCP), Irungu Nyakera, has also expressed interest, though his bid is still considered informal.
Meanwhile, Governor Johnson Sakaja has not yet formally declared whether he will seek re-election, but many expect him to run again.
