Reacher Season 4 review: A chance encounter pulls Reacher into a dangerous mystery

Reacher Season 4 is an action-thriller series that mixes crime, mystery, suspense, and drama.
The new season follows Jack Reacher as he becomes involved in a dangerous case after a disturbing encounter on a Philadelphia subway.
What first appears to be a personal tragedy soon leads to a much bigger mystery involving a missing flash drive and people willing to kill to get it.
The season premiered on August 12, 2026, with eight episodes planned. Unlike a traditional film, the story unfolds gradually, allowing the mystery to become clearer as Reacher gets deeper into the case.
A simple encounter becomes a dangerous case
At the centre of the story is Jack Reacher, a former military investigator who prefers to live without a permanent home or unnecessary ties. His plans change when he meets a troubled stranger on a Philadelphia subway.
The encounter leaves Reacher with questions he cannot simply ignore. As he begins looking into what happened, he discovers that the incident is connected to a missing flash drive containing information that powerful people want to keep hidden.
Reacher soon finds himself facing government agents and professional soldiers who are also searching for the drive. This turns what looked like a single unexplained incident into a much wider conspiracy.
New characters add more to the mystery
Reacher does not handle everything alone. Tamara Green, an NYPD homicide detective, becomes involved as the investigation grows. She is not simply there to support Reacher, as her own actions put her directly in danger.
Jacob Merrick is another important character in the season. Together with Reacher and Tamara, he becomes part of the search for answers. The group must work out who can be trusted while dealing with people determined to stop them.
Lila Hoth also becomes important to Reacher as the investigation develops. Their growing connection adds a quieter side to a story that is otherwise filled with danger and violence.
The action remains one of its strengths
One thing that makes Reacher work is that the action is closely connected to the story. The fights are not simply included for entertainment. They often show how Reacher deals with problems when talking or investigating is no longer enough.
Season 4 also gives the mystery enough room to develop. Reacher does not immediately have all the answers, and every new clue creates another question. This makes the series easy to follow even for viewers who may not have watched all the previous seasons.
The fourth season is based on Gone Tomorrow, one of the novels in the Jack Reacher series, although the television adaptation moves the story to Philadelphia.
Reacher Season 4 continues the series’ straightforward approach to action and mystery. It has a clear central character, a simple mystery that gradually becomes bigger, and enough action to keep the pace moving.
