Mosiria furious after Mama Mboga spotted selling vegetables on raw sewer

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has demanded swift legal action against a landlord and a businesswoman in Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums in Nairobi.
Mosiria stated the landlord knowingly discharged raw sewer waste, while the mama mboga spread her vegetables directly on top of the raw sewer while selling them to residents.
“Information received indicates that a landlord has deliberately discharged raw sewer waste, and shockingly, a mama mboga is selling vegetables directly on top of the same raw sewer.

He decried what he termed as impunity of the highest order, insisting that swift action must be taken against the two.
“This is a grave public health risk and a blatant act of negligence that endangers the lives of innocent residents. This incident is reported to be taking place in Mukuru Kwa Njenga within Embakasi South. Both the landlord and the vendor must face immediate legal action for putting the health and safety of the public at risk,” he added.
Many cases of illnesses such as diarrhoea
Mosiria painted a clear picture of the overall impact of the reckless actions of the two, noting that such behaviour explains why city residents flock to hospitals with infections.
“Such reckless behaviour explains why our hospitals are increasingly reporting many cases of illnesses such as diarrhoea and other serious health complications. It is deeply disturbing that some individuals do not value people’s health; they only value the money they make, he stated.
Video shared by Mosiria
The video shared by Mosiria shows what appears to be raw sewage draining from a pipe and flowing over the road.
A woman can be seen selling vegetables at the scene, with clients picking their supplies as a section of her merchandise appears to be placed on top of the ground covered by the liquid waste.

He emphasised that no one should be allowed to contaminate the environment and then expose the public to food sold under such hazardous conditions and called on the relevant authorities to investigate the matter and take firm action against those responsible.
