Renowned Kenyan content creator and comedian Wilson Muirani Gathoni, popularly known as Jaymo Ule Msee, has opened up about the rumours and gossip his relatives have been spreading since he embraced Islam.

In a video interaction with digital content creator Catey Fortune Munene shared on his official Instagram account on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Jaymo, whose Islamic name is Hakeem Amir Malik, said that some relatives claimed that Muslims are given large sums of money upon conversion.

He explained that this gossip caught his attention because, according to them, he is supposed to pocket Ksh 2 million after he embraced Islam.

Kuna moja mbaya imetokea kwanza ni relatives ndio wanasukuma ni noma, wanasema mtu akislimu anapewa Ksh2million so wanasema very soon nitatokezea na mabwembwe kwa sababu nitakuwa nimepewa Ksh2million,” Jaymo disclosed.

Jaymo said the rumours piqued his curiosity, and he is now even considering confronting one of his relatives to find out if it is true.

Hiyo gossip ilifanya nikuwe interested juu sasa nashanga nitapigiaje mmoja wao niwaulize, ni mwisilamu mgani anafa kunipea hio Ksh2 million, labda kuna mtu amepewa pesa yangu na anataka kuniosha,” he added.

On the ongoing speculation, Jaymo sarcastically told his relatives to continue spreading gossip.

“Keep the gossip coming; najua zengine zitanichanua na pia zitanigenga, that is what relatives do, we support each other,” he sarcastically said.

Jaymo on gossipers

This comes days after he created a space for his online critics to dump their toxicity.

Taking to his Instagram account on Sunday, January 4, 2025, Jaymo shared a photo of himself standing next to a suggestion box, explaining that it was a space for his online critics to dump toxic comments instead of cluttering his main comment section.

Nimewatengenezea Kabox ka kudump Toxicity badala ya Comments Section,” Jaymo wrote.

Message to critics

This comes after he shared a video on Sunday, December 28, 2025, advising gossipers on how they should conduct themselves.

In the video directed to his critics, he said gossiping had become a serious business that requires accountability, especially in an era where information spreads fast.

Jaymo argued that people who share stories about others often act as if they have “high-level intelligence” and reliable sources, yet they rarely take responsibility when their claims turn out to be false.

Unajua gossipers, eh, need to be held accountable,” he said.

According to Jaymo, anyone who gives out stories about people’s lives should be ready to stand by them or publicly explain when things go wrong.

“You need to come out strongly so that your reputation as a serial gossiper ibaki ikiwa juu,” he said, adding humorously that one can say their sources were compromised or even that they were “scammed by the devil,”he noted.

“With accountability as a gossiper, you come out as a brand.”
