International Women’s Day: Jalang’o celebrates ladies’ resilience, vows continued support
Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has honoured International Women’s Day by celebrating the strength, courage, and resilience of women and girls in Lang’ata and across Kenya.
The MP said women play a key role in society and deserve recognition for their contributions. He pledged to continue supporting them through his work in the constituency.
“Today, on International Women’s Day, I celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of every woman and girl in Lang’ata and across our great nation,” Jalang’o said in a post on Instagram, March 8, 2026.

He added that women carry the hopes of communities every day through their leadership, hard work, and determination.
He highlighted the many roles women play in society. Jalang’o said mothers, daughters, sisters, and leaders nurture families, drive the economy, and lead institutions.
“Your determination, your voice, and your leadership continue to shape the future of Kenya,” he said. He called on everyone to recognise the sacrifices women make to support their families and communities.
Supporting women and girls in Lang’ata
Jalang’o said that as an MP, he is committed to protecting the rights of women and girls and ensuring equal opportunities. He emphasised that every girl should grow up knowing her dreams are valid and her future is limitless.
“As the Member of Parliament for Lang’ata, I am deeply committed to standing with you, fighting for equal opportunities, protecting your rights, and ensuring that every girl grows up knowing that her dreams are valid and her future is limitless,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of honouring women beyond just celebrating them on one day. Jalang’o said women’s achievements and contributions are essential for building a stronger, fairer society.
“Today we do more than celebrate women, we honour your sacrifices, your achievements, and the powerful role you play in building a stronger, more just society,” he said.
Jalang’o concluded by encouraging women and girls to continue speaking up and taking leadership roles. He said their voices and actions matter and that the government and community leaders have a role in supporting them.
“To every woman and girl: your voice matters, your leadership matters, and your future matters,” he said.
He wished all women a happy International Women’s Day and reiterated his commitment to their empowerment.
