Obinna briefly kicks out politicians from Vurugu 2 after crowd refuses to calm down
A dramatic moment unfolded at the Vurugu 2 boxing event on Saturday, June 20, 2026, after event organiser Oga Obinna was forced to intervene and ask politicians who had attended the show to briefly step out following rising tension and disruptions from the crowd.
The incident happened at the Sarit Expo Centre in Westlands, Nairobi, where fans had gathered for the boxing and entertainment spectacle that brought together celebrities, musicians, content creators and political figures.
As the chants grew louder and interrupted proceedings, Obinna stepped in and appealed to the politicians present, including Siaya Senator James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Jalang’o, to help calm down their supporters.
“Senator Orengo, MP Babu Owino, please let us try to calm down our people. Let’s tell them we love them, but they settle down. MP Jalang’o, please let’s tell our people to calm down,” Obinna said.
The entertainer and event organiser then asked the leaders to engage with their supporters and help restore order so the programme could continue.
“Let Babu Owino settle down. Politicians, please let us talk with our supporters to calm down. Please talk to your boys. We need to continue,” he added.

However, as the situation persisted and the event remained disrupted, Obinna announced that the politicians would have to temporarily leave the area to allow calm to return.
“At this point, I feel that all politicians will have to leave so that calm can return. With all due respect, Senator Orengo, MP Jalas and Babu, please. There is no politician who is speaking at this event. This is not a political event,” Obinna said.
He further appealed to fans supporting the politicians to allow the entertainment programme to continue.
“Okay, so if you love your politicians, please let’s settle so the event can continue, because you see now the event has come to a halt. Now all politicians will have to ease up a bit because we need to calm down. Please,” he said.
Following the appeal, the politicians briefly stepped out as organisers worked to restore order inside the venue.
The situation later calmed down, allowing the leaders to return to the venue and the event programme to continue.
The incident became one of the most talked-about moments of Vurugu 2, adding a political twist to an event that was largely centred around boxing, music and entertainment.
