Work, bills, taxes, then death? Murugi Munyi says adults need to schedule fun

Content creator Murugi Munyi has urged adults to take an active role in making their lives enjoyable, noting that adulthood can easily become a routine of work, financial responsibilities and planning for the future.
In a post shared on Saturday, September 19, 2026, Munyi reflected on how parents often take responsibility for making life exciting for their children by organising trips, sports and other activities.
She said adults eventually have to take on that responsibility for themselves if they do not want their lives to become boring.
“One thing that people sometimes realize too late in life is that as an adult, it is your job to make your life fun,” Munyi said.
Adults have to schedule their own fun
Munyi explained that children often have parents thinking about what they can do for fun, whether it is going somewhere on a Sunday, signing up for a sport or planning a trip.

According to her, adults should apply the same thinking to their own lives by deliberately making plans instead of waiting for someone else to create enjoyable experiences for them.
She encouraged people who see others enjoying activities online to consider whether they would also enjoy doing similar things and, if so, make plans to participate.
“If you want that, you have to be the one to schedule the fun in your life,” she said.
Munyi suggested that someone interested in sports could sign up and play, while those who enjoy travelling could make plans with friends and book trips.
‘You are the one who’s being boring’
Munyi said adults can become so focused on work, paying bills and saving money that they forget to create room for experiences they enjoy.
“Otherwise your life will be working, paying taxes, saving for a rainy day, and then you die,” she said.
She also challenged people who complain that their lives are boring to examine whether they are actively doing anything to change their routines.

“If you’re feeling bored in your life, you are the one who’s being boring. I’m sorry, girl. I just had to say it,” Munyi said.
She questioned who adults expect to come and pick them up from their homes and take them out for fun, stressing that they have to take the initiative themselves.
Munyi encouraged adults to say yes to things, make plans with friends and ask themselves what they would find enjoyable before making time for it.
“As an adult, life can get so serious. If you do not find time to schedule in your fun, you will literally die bored,” she said.
