Thee Pluto explains why he left Christianity for Islam after his grandmother died

YouTuber and forex trader Thee Pluto has revealed how the death of his grandmother in 2019 triggered a spiritual crisis that eventually saw him abandon Christianity and embrace Islam for a period of time.

Speaking in an interview with Tony Mwirigi on Sunday, May 31, 2026, Pluto disclosed that his grandmother played a central role in shaping his Christian upbringing from childhood and was largely responsible for making the faith meaningful to him.

According to the content creator, his grandmother was deeply devoted to Christianity and personally guided him through scripture while nurturing both his spiritual growth and his music career.

“There is a time I shifted from Christianity to Islam, and the reason was that I was brought up by my grandma, who happened to be a very good Christian. Even when I was singing, she was nurturing me in that journey. Then in 2019, all of a sudden, she died, and she was the only person who was making Christianity make sense to me,” he shared.

Pluto then recalled that most of the songs he composed while growing up were heavily inspired by Bible verses and chapters, an influence he attributes directly to his grandmother’s teachings.

He revealed that over a period of nearly ten years, he and his grandmother read the Bible from the first page to the last page together, often discovering new lessons and interpretations during their sessions.

The social media personality further disclosed that his grandmother owned a large Kikuyu Bible that she treasured deeply and which became a key part of their spiritual bonding.

“My grandmother, and this is something I have never told people, we read the Bible from the first page to the last page together over a period of about 10 years. She had a huge Bible that she loved so much. It was a Kikuyu Bible, and every time we read it, we would get a new understanding,” Pluto shared.

Following her death, he began questioning many aspects of Christianity and found himself struggling to make sense of beliefs he had previously accepted.

The YouTuber admitted that he has always been naturally inquisitive and often questioned religious teachings, but his grandmother had always provided answers and guidance that helped him navigate those doubts.

Without her presence, he said Christianity gradually stopped making sense to him, pushing him into a period of spiritual uncertainty.

“So I started feeling like Christianity was no longer making sense to me because I remember I used to question things a lot. You see, all the songs I sang when I was young were Bible verses. I would pick a verse or even a whole chapter, like Psalms, and make an entire song out of it,” he said.
