Tanzanian singer Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa, popularly known as Rayvanny, has reflected on the power of faith and hope after celebrating actress Wema Sepetu’s new motherhood journey, saying her story is proof that nothing is impossible when one believes in God.

Speaking in an interview with a local Bongo radio station on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Rayvanny, who described Wema as a close friend, said he was proud and happy for the actress after she welcomed her first child following years of publicly sharing her struggles and hopes of becoming a mother.

The singer said Wema’s journey serves as encouragement to people who may be waiting for their own breakthroughs.

“Wema is my close friend, and I am so proud of her. I am so happy, and that shows that in life, there is nothing that is impossible, especially if you believe in God,” Rayvanny said.

The Tetema hitmaker went on to congratulate Wema on the new chapter, urging her to raise her child well and guide him into becoming a responsible person.

“Wema, all the best. Congratulations, and bring up the baby in a good manner so he can become a good boy,” he added.

Rayvanny also extended his message to Tanzanian singer Whozu, who is the father of Wema’s baby, praising him for standing by the actress and bringing happiness into her life.

“To her hubby, singer Whozu, congratulations also because you have shown you are a good partner and you have brought happiness. Let us all be happy for them,” he said.

The singer further celebrated the meaning behind Wema’s baby’s arrival, recalling her long-standing image as Tanzania’s sweetheart and saying her son could grow into someone equally loved by many.

“The baby Wema has brought is special because way back we used to refer to her as the Tanzanian sweetheart. Now that baby will also be that. He is called Ollie, and he will be like a baby of the nation. The name is good also,” Rayvanny said.

He added that he believes the child will grow up well because of the values of both parents.

“I know the baby will grow up to be good because both parents are good people,” he said.

First baby

Rayvanny’s message comes after Wema Sepetu announced what appeared to be the arrival of her baby boy on Saturday, June 13, 2026, sharing a photo of a newborn wrapped in a sky-blue shawl and wearing blue socks.

The post, which showed a close-up image of the baby’s small leg, was widely celebrated by fans who had followed Wema’s emotional journey towards motherhood.

The actress later confirmed the arrival of her son, named Ollie, with Tanzanian singer Whozu, marking a major personal milestone after years of openly discussing her struggles to conceive.

Before the birth, Wema had shared emotional reflections about motherhood, revealing that she had reached a point where she had accepted the possibility that she might never have a child.

In an earlier interview, the actress explained that she had stopped expecting pregnancy after years of waiting and medical challenges.

Sijabarikiwa kupata mtoto na kiukweli kwa wakati huu hata mkiniambia mnanitakia heri, nimeshafika 35,” Wema had said.

She also admitted that her desire for motherhood had changed after a long period of hoping and waiting.

“My road to wanting a baby, hata ile hamu, imefika point nimegive up,” she said.

Despite her acceptance at the time, Wema continued to hold onto her faith, saying that God remained in control of her journey.

Her pregnancy announcement came after she hosted a lavish baby shower celebration that attracted attention online, where she appeared heavily pregnant while celebrating with close friends and loved ones.

The all-white themed event marked a turning point in her motherhood journey, with many fans viewing it as a moment of hope after years of uncertainty.

Wema Sepetu, who rose to fame after winning Miss Tanzania in 2006 before establishing herself as one of Tanzania’s most recognised actresses, has now entered a new chapter as a first-time mother.
