Phina explains why having a child while in entertainment requires being ready

Tanzanian singer Phina has said having a child while working in the entertainment industry requires a woman to be ready, noting that the industry can demand a lot of her time.
Phina was responding to a question about whether seeing fellow entertainers such as Zuchu, Priscy and Maua Sama raising children while continuing with their careers gave her confidence that she could also have a child and continue with her work.
She first congratulated the women, saying balancing motherhood and an entertainment career was not an easy task. Phina explained that women in the industry have to deal with demanding work schedules.
“Kwanza niwape hongera, unajua sio kitu rahisi,” Phina said on Friday, September 25, 2026.
She explained that the entertainment industry can take up a lot of an artiste’s time, with some people working late into the night and even shooting until morning. According to Phina, this makes it important for women to be prepared when considering having children while pursuing their careers.
“Sisi wanawake tunafanya…for example, industry kama ya kwetu, entertainment industry is very demanding, ina demand muda wako, watu wanashoot mpaka asubuhi,” Phina said.
Balancing work and family
Phina said women who manage to continue doing well in entertainment while also raising families deserve respect. She noted that having a child while working in such a demanding industry involves handling both responsibilities.
“Ukiona mwanamke yuko huko, na bado anafanya vizuri, na bado anapambana na familia, ana mtoto, jamani muheshimu,” Phina said.
The singer also spoke about her own thoughts on having a child while continuing with her career. She said she was not ruling it out, but felt that the timing was also important for her.
“Kwangu mimi, bado, ni swala la muda pia, ikifika…” Phina said.
She added that having a child is something a person needs to be prepared for. Her comments came after she was asked whether seeing other women in entertainment manage motherhood alongside their careers made her feel more confident about doing the same.
Phina said women in the entertainment industry have demanding schedules because their work can require long hours. She pointed to shooting until morning as one example of the time demands that come with the industry.
The singer also recognised the effort involved in managing a family while continuing with entertainment work. She said women who are able to handle both responsibilities should be respected for doing so.
“Lakini vitu kama hivyo you have to be ready,” Phina said.
