Kelly Rowland celebrates special bond between her and Beyoncé’s children

American singer Kelly Rowland has opened up about raising her children alongside her long-time friend and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Beyoncé, describing their close family bond as a blessing.

Rowland shares sons Titan, 11 years old, and Noah, 5 years old, with her husband Tim Weatherspoon, while Beyoncé shares daughter Blue Ivy, 14years old, and twins Rumi and Sir, who are 9years old, with rapper Jay-Z.

Speaking about their children growing up together, Rowland said she and Beyoncé have recently noticed how much the children have changed as they grow older.

‘It’s a blessing’

Rowland said it feels special to watch their children grow up together, especially now that some of them are entering their teenage years. “It’s so crazy that that’s a thing. We noticed that this summer and how they’re all just growing up so beautifully,” Rowland said.

She added that having her children share a close bond with Beyoncé’s family has given her another reason to value their friendship. “It’s a blessing to be able to share a lifetime of love with my sisters. All of them,” she said.

The singer and Beyoncé have remained close since their years together in Destiny’s Child, which also included Michelle Williams.

Motherhood has changed Rowland

Rowland also spoke about how becoming a mother has changed the way she sees herself and her children. She said motherhood continues to introduce her to new sides of both her children and herself as they grow and experience different things.

“You’re today years old when you learn about this new version of your kid, yourself, and the dynamic that it creates in the house,” Rowland explained.

She said children are constantly learning and changing as they take in the world around them. “I wish someone would have told me that because they’re ever growing, ever learning, ever taking in the world around them,” she added.

Rowland talks about keeping children healthy

The singer also discussed the challenges that come with raising school-going children, including dealing with unexpected illnesses.

Rowland recently partnered with Lysol for its HERE for Healthy Schools programme, an initiative carried out with the PTA to encourage families to prepare for unexpected sick days while supporting schools and their communities.

She said school is an important part of her children’s lives and that having a child fall sick can affect the family’s normal routine. “The unexpected sick days are the ones that sometimes feel like I’m set back,” Rowland said.

She explained that she liked the programme because it brings families, students and schools together. “Lysol’s been in my family for a very long time, and I thought that this was a really great initiative to combine the school and families and the students and everyone to be able to support each other,” she said.

Rowland shares routine at home

Rowland also revealed some of the steps she takes at home to reduce the spread of germs after her children return from school. She said the family regularly carries Lysol wipes and uses them to clean surfaces around the house.

The singer has also introduced an after-school routine for her sons, which includes washing their hands and changing their school clothes. “I have the kids blow their nose, wash their hands and take off the school clothes when they come,” Rowland said.

She added that allergies can sometimes lead to colds, making her more careful about hygiene at home.

“I’m so serious inside the house. I have a new set of clothes because the allergies are serious and that turns into colds, you know, things start getting real tricky,” she added.
