Blow to Arsenal? Klopp gives update as Kai Havertz undergoes scan on suspected hamstring injury

Jurgen Klopp has expressed optimism that Kai Havertz will be ‘back in action relatively quickly,’ though he is likely to be out for the rest of the international break after the Arsenal striker suffered an injury while playing for Germany.
Havertz was forced off just 30 minutes into the Nations League clash with the Netherlands on Thursday night, following a late high tackle from Quinten Timber, the brother of Havertz’s Arsenal teammate Jurrien.

Jamal Musiala was also injured in the match, and discussing the pair on RTL after the Thursday, September 24, 2026, encounter, Klopp said, “Both are currently undergoing an MRI.
“I hope we get the diagnosis [on Thursday] evening. But of course, this is not great.
“I hope it’s nothing serious. The lads are probably out for us. But hopefully, they’ll be back in action relatively quickly.”
Arsenal’s next game after the international break is on October 10, 2026, when they host Leeds in the Premier League.
Havertz injury fears are of particular concern for Mikel Arteta’s team. The Gunners have been riding on the star attacking midfielder’s form. The ex-Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea man has been the team’s standout star in the new season, scoring three goals in official competitions across all competitions.
The run saw him dislodge Viktor Gyokeres as the Spaniard’s preferred first-choice attacker, and it remains to be seen how his layoff impacts Arsenal.
Arteta lauds Havertz
Arteta was full of praise for the German’s impressive run just before the Gunners faced Sunderland in the Premier League:
“The best position is in relation to what the game demands and what the team demands on the day – to be as efficient and unpredictable as possible,” Arteta said.
“Kai is extremely intelligent – that’s his biggest quality. He understands the game – he is five, 10 seconds ahead. He knows what’s happening; he doesn’t need to think about it – he just acts, and it makes the people around him better, which is another massive quality.”
Tzolis scores for Greece
Meanwhile, Arsenal forward Christos Tzolis was on target as Greece claimed a last-gasp 2-1 comeback win over Serbia in the Nations League in Belgrade on Thursday.
The ex-Club Brugge winger produced a smart, find-the-net with a left-foot finish in the 74th minute to cancel out Serbia’s early opener.
Greece then snatched a winner five minutes into stoppage time through Anastasios Douvikas to clinch the three points.
Victory in Belgrade for Tzolis and Greece on matchday one puts them top of Nations League Group A2.
