Nurse Judy reflects on days when it took months to afford Ksh50k vacation

Nurse Judy has reflected on a time when she and her husband took months to save for a Ksh50,000 vacation package.
Judy shared throwback photos of herself while looking back at some of their earlier holidays and the financial journey behind them. She said the first trip was to Mombasa, where they stayed in Diani.
Judy explained that the vacation was paid for through Lipa na Pole Pole over several months. She said the package cost about Ksh50,000, which made her reflect on how much their lives and finances have changed since then. The throwback gave her a chance to compare that period with where they are today.
“I think this was our very first vacation, to Mombasa. I think we stayed at Diani Reef. We paid for this vacation lipa na pole pole for months, and I think the package was like 50k shillings, LMFAO!” Nurse Judy said on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
Judy said that looking back at the trip made her think about the different seasons of life. She explained that it was surprising to remember that they once needed several months and a payment plan to afford a vacation that cost Ksh50,000. She used the memory to reflect on how their circumstances have changed over time.
“Enyewe life seasons cz what do you mean it took us months and lipa na pole pole to afford a 50k package?” Nurse Judy said.
Judy recalls another vacation
Judy also shared details about their second vacation, which took place at Enashipai. She explained that the second trip was different because she was able to pay for the vacation in full. The trip was also connected to a special occasion for her husband.
“This was our second vacation at Enashipai, and this time, I PAID fully!” Nurse Judy said.
Judy explained that the second vacation was planned around her husband’s birthday. She said she wanted to celebrate him on the special occasion, but there was another reason the trip was important to her. She wanted to recognise the support he had given her during her nursing school journey.
“It was hubby’s birthday, and yes, I wanted to celebrate him, but more than anything, I wanted to appreciate him for how incredibly supportive he had been throughout my nursing school journey,” Nurse Judy said.
The throwback photos allowed Judy to look back at the earlier stages of their life together. She remembered the first vacation as a time when they had to plan carefully and pay for the trip over several months. She then contrasted it with the second vacation, which she was able to pay for fully.
