Nurse Judy fires back at critics linking her marriage to ‘The Polygamist’ series

Nurse Judy has responded strongly to critics who have linked her personal life and marriage to the TV show Polygamist.
In a lengthy statement on Friday, June 19, 2026, she dismissed comparisons between her life and the show’s characters, saying people have wrongly assumed the storyline reflects her own experiences.
“It is absolutely diabolical how some people think I don’t have a right to comment on a TV show ‘Polygamist’,” Nurse Judy said.
She explained that she has seen different reactions online, including blogs, videos, screenshots and comments, with some people comparing her to characters from the show. According to her, the comparisons have become so common that some people now refer to her and her husband using names from the series.

“I’ve seen blogs, forwarded videos, screenshots, my comment sections, and enough think pieces to last me a lifetime. Apparently, I’m now Joyce. In some cases, I’m Matipa. My husband is Jonasi. The casting directors are working overtime,” she said.
Nurse Judy said she finds it surprising that people believe discussing a chapter of her life means she should remain silent about topics that may appear similar. She maintained that her own experience is different from what is portrayed in the television series.
Addressing her past openly
She explained that she and her husband have never hidden what happened in their relationship. According to her, they have already spoken publicly about the challenges they faced and the decisions they made during difficult periods.
“For the umpteenth time, we owned our mistakes. We separated, not once but twice btwn year 2021 and 2024. We moved on. We dated other people. We hurt each other. We forgave each other. God forgave us, too. So what exactly is the blackmail here?” Nurse Judy said.

She also addressed comments about a child who is often mentioned whenever her marriage is discussed. Nurse Judy stated that the child was conceived during a period when she and her husband were separated and said that is a fact she fully understands.
“The child people keep bringing up was conceived during a period when we were separated. That’s the reality… No matter how y’all don’t want to admit that part,” she explained.
Nurse Judy added that she has chosen love and support for the child and said her position would not change regardless of future circumstances.
